Does anyone know if it represents anything in particular?

I found this aswell. Its being built in Thailand.
What i meant to say in my first post was does the shape of this mean anything else( apart from a sail) as it would be weird if they started appearing all over the world.

I was up on culver down the other day on the isle of wight meet up and someone pointed out that the monument on it lines up with the spinnaker tower.

The obelisk is in memory of Charles Anderson-Pelham, 1st Earl of Yarborough and has loads of symbolism on it. Some of the creatures on it look like serpant/dragon stuff. Very illuminati.
The link below is the clearest picture i could find of the symbols. There are a couple of wierd creatures on the crest thing.

Hi schaff/niall:)
Interesting thread, I think there's gotta be something symbolic about the sail shape for sure, although I don't know the meaning behind it. Does anyone else know about this/what it represents?
I hadn't connected the two until I read that. It would be interesting to find out if they're both located on the same energy/ley line or something...

The Burj Al Arab

The Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island 280 metres (919 ft) out from Jumeirah beach, and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. It is an iconic structure, designed to symbolize Dubai's urban transformation and to mimic the sail of a boat.
It all reminds me of this;

(PS; I stole all this from Tinmenace's thread on symbolism....just to give her credit as she did an enormous amount of research!! :)

44:11 · The sign is based on , vesica piscis (fish bladder), or the mystical almond. It was adopted by Christian symbolism from pagan symbolism. In the early Christian art Christ depicted during the torture on the cross often was given an almond-shaped halo, the mandorla, the mystical almond. The way to symbolize holiness with a halo or a nimbus is much older than Christianity, though. In the antiquity artists sometimes painted nimbuses around the heads of their gods when picturing them.
The mandorla has also been used in Cabbalistic mysticism.
The central sign, , is the common part of the two circles of for sexual love and togetherness. Christianity implanted its renouncing of sexual pleasures and acitivities in , and it eventually became a sign to denote purity, virginity and continence.
That is why in modern times has been used in meteorology to signify exceptionally clear air or excellent visibility. In accordance with the law of the polarity of meanings of elementary graphs it has also been used in some meteorological contexts in the United States to indicate that visibility is impaired by smoke.
The mystical almond surrounded by the halo thus is a symbol for Christ, the Son of God, the Saviour.
BUT on reflection as i was watching this- the other night....

.....and this chap talks about the boat representing the female and the mast/sail representing the male (phalic like).
Also this quote from Albert Pike (Freemason);
"These two divinities… were commonly symbolized by the generative parts of man and woman… The Phallus and Cteis (vagina), emblems of generation and production, and which, as such, appeared in the Mysteries. The Indian Lingam was the union of both, as were the Boat and Mast, and the Point within the Circle… Pike Albert, "Morals and Dogma," p. 401.
Ship are generally larger than boats, but share many of the same meanings. They can be solar or lunar, carrying these two celestial bodies across the seas. With their close connection to WATER, ships often bear signifigance as fertility symbols, and are linked to the Great Mother. The Christian church is sometimes referred to as a ship or the ARK, with the mast of the ship being the CROSS.
The boat represents a journey, a crossing, adventure, and exploration. It is also the femininity and "sheltering aspect of the Great Mother" (Cooper, 1978). Reference in literature as the cradle rediscovered (the mother's womb).
Im now inclined to say 'yes' the Spinnaker Tower is a huge phallic symbol dominating the solent.
Interesting to note that i found this....

Just across the water in Gosport inline with the Spinnaker tower....This quote was with it!
On Wednesday 25th August 2004, Gosport Borough Council organised a ceremony to mark the Town's 800th birthday with a Civic Procession led by the Mayor ending at the Timespace on the Millennium Promenade. A short service was held and children representing Newtown School buried a time capsule, which, if unearthed in hundreds of years time might give those who find it an insight into how we live today.
From Wikipedia...The Spinnaker Tower is a 170 m (558 ft)–high tower in Portsmouth, United Kingdom. It is the centrepiece of the redevelopment of Portsmouth Harbour, which was supported by a National Lottery grant. Its shape was chosen by Portsmouth residents from a selection of concepts. The tower, designed by local firm HGP Architects and the engineering consultants Scott Wilson and built by Mowlem,[1] reflects Portsmouth's maritime history by being modeled after a sail. After several years of delays and cost overruns, it was opened on 18 October 2005.
Footnote:- Common Purpose related??
The project was over budget, with an overall cost of £35.6 million for the tower alone. Taxpayers were not meant to fund the tower, but Portsmouth City Council eventually contributed £11.1 million towards construction.
Typical, the poor people of Portsmouth are still paying for it via their Council Tax!

Just out of interest....I stumbled across this today....
From the Daily Echo...
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/search/display.var.2068352.0.pyramid_selling_a_landmark_t o_the_city.php
DEVELOPERS want to be build Britain's biggest artistic landmark in Southampton.
http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/6800/full866208solarpyramidxh6.jpg
They say the enormous £3.5m structure - which would stretch almost 150ft into the sky - could finally give Southampton the elusive wow factor.
Dubbed the Solar Pyramid, the giant green sundial would be the world's largest timepiece and could attract 400,000 visitors a year.
-----------------
If built, it would be almost as tall as the 156ft Southampton Civic Centre clock tower and rival Portsmouth's 447ft Spinnaker Tower as a major tourist attraction on the south coast.
-----------------
http://img143.imageshack.us/img143/5671/full869284pyramid1ds4.jpg
Project architect Richard Swain said the Solar Pyramid would be "truly iconic" gateway landmark.
"We did hear Southampton was looking for a landmark and as far as we are concerned Southampton is the premier city on the south coast and the gateway to Britain," he said.
-----------
Plans to build the Solar Pyramid in Poole collapsed last month after a huge public outcry.
Originally planned for Derbyshire and then Poole in Dorset, the Solar Pyramid was described as the most exciting "art meets science" project in the country.
--------------
THE people of a small former coal-mining town in north Derbyshire loved it, while many of our south coast neighbours in Poole couldn't wait to kill it off.
Now it is up to Southampton to decide if it wants to be known as the home of "The Solar Pyramid - The World's Tallest Timepiece".
The structure would consist of three giant blades leaning towards an apex 148ft (45m) above ground level. The blades will create the illusion of a pyramid structure, but won't actually meet, and cast a shadow across a 213ft (65m) piazza.
The piazza's complex paving pattern will incorporate an equation of time calculation - a wriggling line around the base of the pyramid that acts as a calendar as well as the clock.
http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/7162/pyramidscaleqb8.gif
So they thought they'd try Southampton instead- they're pretty determined to build a pyramid somewhere arn't they?

might not mean anything but if there is a circle within or without the design it is incorporating the feminine within it then :D

My flatmate went to Dubai, earlier in the year and took a picture of the inside of the tower. if you stand in the main receptionyou can look all the way up to the roof, which is shaped like a pyramid, with split divisions and an uncapped top.
I'll get him to bluetooth it to me then put on here soon.
