Of course he was for a start if he was an Hebrew as Xitians claim his name could not have been Jesus for there is no letter J in the Hebrew alphabet. Only badly educated people still believe this crap that they have been spoon fed by nefarious people who use religion to control them.
This talk by the Gnostic Philosopher Timothy Freke is well worth listening to, he is very witty but he also makes some profound statements. I would be interested in finding out what others posting here make of his talk:

Gnostics believe in Jesus. You sound bitter. Did you have a bad experience?
I would also like to point out that you are using the word "myth" inappropriately. I only point this out because you claim that others are "badly educated".. (and it would be "poorly educated" I believe).

There were no bad experiences and Gnostics do not and cannot follow anyone called Jesus. Now to your pedantic diatribe concerning the word badly, people can be badly educated as opposed to poorly educated. In the former one is being deliberately plied with bullshit. Whilst in the latter, one is deliberately debilitated by being unfed.
Now we cleared that up would you like to really deal with the point raised, which is that there could not have been any man called Jesus Christ. It is just a Roman title and they have tricked the world into IDOLIZING a Myth. No wonder the Jews and the Gnostics never bought into the crap.
Another thing, All you Jesus Freaks project your Anger onto others. If you don't threaten people with physical violence you threaten them with your non existent hell.
Christians don't sound Bitter they are Bitter. Simply because people are waking up to the bullshit they have been destroying the world with for the last 2000 years.

There is a book called THE GNOSTIC GOSPELS by Elaine Pagel. And I studied with a Gnostic group and no-where did they teach these things you are refering to. Often they refered to Jesus and his teachings.
It's not a Roman title, unless you mean a Roman translation. Because the text, like say Philippians, referes to Jesus the Christ and was written in 60 AD. by an Israeli. In that text Paul states that he had first hand knowledge of the existence of who we know as Jesus the Christ.
But more to the point. We find people debating all over this board about things that happened just today, or about the existance of just about anything. Don't we? And very little is ever cofirmed.
But I might say, your belief in Jesus doesn't or didn't exist because of the letter "J", seems kind of silly. If that is your arguement. Because anyone with any kind of education would see that "Jesus" is the word we use, and does not have to be the actual given name of a child born in Judea 2,000 years ago. (but maybe Judea doesn't and never did exist because that is a "J" word?)

Yes, I'm going to have to agree with you here. You make some good points and I would also like to point out the fact that no matter what you call the 'Christ', we are all referring to the same individual.
Yatta; If you want to use your astute 'hebrew' knowledge and argue a's, b's and c's, well then you're wasting your breath and brain power. It's not the name that's important, it's the power that comes with the belief and many more people believe in Jesus than just christians. So try not to generalize and speak for everyone else when you're only responsible for yourself. If you don't want to call him 'Jesus', that's great, but it won't change the fact that that's the most recognizable name on the planet!

You did not learn to well Gnostics use the name Jesus for conventions sake.
Pagels does not believe in Jesus that is why she is a Gnostic LOL

No it is a Roman title and modern day Romans admit that themselves you need to get searching you are a complete and utter ignoramus. All Xitian Apologist are.

Complete Bullshit which shallow thinkers fall for everytime.

Obfuscation based on the Bifurcation Fallacy in philosophy.

IT is based on common sense and logic to argue against what I am saying is the hight of stupidity.

It does if people are coming from a God perspective. All the Jesus Freaks are practising Idolotory, anyone with an education will quickly discern it is a Myth.
