Not sure if I understand the question, or the statement here Seamus.

You say at present you're a "validation addict" Does this mean you need to validate something to prove to yourself it's real, weighing up the evidence for and against to prove something to be true(reality)

As opposed to just having a belief (faith based) which doesn't prove something to be true or real. Which is what alot of religion and pseudo scientific theories are none proveable realities, just maybes.
