Devil & Lovers cards..

I have noticed that on both cards there a smiler thing... on the devil card is one side with the woman's tail with fruit on the end and the guys tail is on fire....

on the Lovers card the tree behind the woman has fruit and the tree behind the guy is on fire...

does anyone know what this is symbolizing?

hi thirdwave,i dont know if this will make sense but my take on it is ,both cards indicate choices the lovers can mean two paths either one is right for you but a choice must be made and of course relationship issues are indicated the fruit i feel represents womans nurturing the fire maybe mans force of will to push forward with plans, the devil points to a need to break away and sever the ties that bind so the fruit and the fire in both cases i feel would indicate the nurturing of the feminine combined with the force of the masculine.both cards points to a desition to be made one which must be made with gentleness but also with power,hope this helps,also with the tarot as with all simbolism its personal to you and who you are reading for.

the devil card points to two people tied to a situation either through emotions or finances but the ties that binds are in reality very loose and can be removed at any time by either party so a choice can be made to either stay with the situation or break free to find another path so yes the devil can involve making a choice,hope this makes sense.

The devil card is one of restriction and bondage. Saturn is strongly featured in this card, again limitation but with the opportunity to learn from the experience.

To manifest anything in the material world there has to be a set of limits, some boundaries and constrictions in order to make something take shape. The devil is the card that creates these limitations in order for forms to be developed and manifested. The goat is a symbol of creative virility, so that the overall idea is creative force being pushed into specific manifestations. You could say it represent a necessary evil :D
