I was looking at an old Business English book - of all things - (it's in 'Business Opportunites', Oxford University Press, 1994) when I spotted this on page 28:

Future Predictions, Richard Dantas, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania:

"In the 21st century, the majority of the population will be dissatisfied with the quality and delivery of government services. Multinational corporations will assume the current role of government and help to forge a new world order. Social security, police forces, health care and education will all be provided by the private sector."

 Brazen!

So? We've had leaders of powerful countries already say it out in the open on TV. lol I'm not surprised to find that in a textbook that quoted a student from Wharton-one of the best business schools in the world.

Seeing it so casually expressed in a place I wasn't expecting to see it (a TEFL book) surprised me ;)
