I know I know, a little random but I have drawn references from Mckenna and Hicks who both see one of the same view as I'm sure you all do.
At some point the human picked up a musha around 50,000 years ago and tripped, which may have resulted in the early stages of language, which then progressed into cultural and artistic significance.
So my question is simply this.......What happens to a modern day chimpanzee/monkey on DMT/hallucinogenic mushrooms etc?
stange pondering but a valid one that may prove a theory correct?

If mushrooms did all that 50,000 years ago, we would be being of light flying through the universe by now (especially me).

I've herd this from a friend before... But I do not reckon that DMT/hallucinogenic mushrooms can add so much to DNA / Genome within a short time.
Besides 50,0000 years ago is nothing compared to how long the Aboriginals of Australia (http://www.creativespirits.info/aboriginalculture/history/aboriginal-history-timeline.html) have been here. (Could be more than 7 million years.)
Plus, what is this? A 500000 year old Spark Plug?
Horses and sheep eat mushrooms too. We don't see them as evolved to our 'level'. With the joke aside about sheeple.
Then again, if we think of our language as beneficial - how many problems has our language caused?
English is the hardest & is at times - ridiculous. What if some animals just communicate telepathically? Some say ducks do.

Firstly, if you study the forums you'll realise that we have trouble agreeing on what time it is, so please understand that their is no consensus on the what's, why's and wherefores of hallucinogens :)
Dmt although contained in various plants is also produced in your brain but usually it is digested and broken down in your body which prevents you from tripping out during the normal course of your day (handy eh?). So rather than it being a 'drug' you add to your system it's more a case of halting the natural breakdown process. Various plants and fasting can help achieve this. Of course nowadays there are synthetic substances and we have ways of extracting DMT into 'hit' form but our brains are pre-wired to relate to it.
With this in mind, I couldn't really say I knew enough about ape physiology to know how their brains would react to the same molecules but maybe their is some plant material out there waiting to enlighten them too? I really like Terrence McKenna :)
