ISLAMABAD, April 5 (RIA Novosti) - Iran is prepared to defend itself should the United States attack it, the speaker of Iran's parliament said Thursday.

The last few days have seen reports in Russian and foreign media that the U.S. has scheduled an operation, codenamed Bite, against Iran for 4:00 a.m. local time April 6. The operation, should it materialize, would deliver air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over a 12-hour period.

"The Iranian people are ready and determined to protect their land and to repel any enemy attack," Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel said at a press conference during his visit to Pakistan.

However, he said it was highly unlikely the U.S. would attack his country, as "the U.S. has no real reason to do so."

The speaker added that Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf had assured him that Pakistan would never get involved in any actions aimed at Iran.

The U.S. has not excluded a military option in the standoff with Iran over its refusal to abandon its uranium enrichment program.

The UN Security Council passed a new resolution on Iran two weeks ago toughening economic sanctions against the country and accepting the possibility of a military solution to the crisis.

The U.S. Administration sees Iran as a "rogue state" and is determined to stop the Islamic Republic, diplomatically or otherwise, from obtaining nuclear weapons. Washington now plans to deploy a missile defense shield in Central Europe allegedly to protect itself from potential missile strikes from Iran or North Korea.

TEHRAN, February 7 (RIA Novosti) - Iran has successfully tested the TOR-M1 air defense missile system recently supplied by Russia, the Iranian news agency ISNA said, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps responsible for national missile forces.

http://www.defense-update.com/images/tor-gr.jpg

The tests were part of military exercises that began in southern Iran Wednesday after Russia completed the delivery of 29 TOR-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems to Iran in late January under a $700 million contract signed at the end of 2005.

Russia's weapons supplies alarmed the United States, which imposed new sanctions on the Russian government's official arms dealer Rosoboronexport and on two other companies for the sale of TOR-M1 to the Islamic Republic. Rosoboronexport faced sanctions for arms sales to Iran and Syria twice last year.

Russian authorities responded by saying the contract with Iran on TOR-M1 did not violate any international regulations and pursued purely defensive goals.

"The contract was clinched in accordance with international law," the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation said. "The contract is for defensive weapons, which cannot be used for offensive purposes a priori."

Russia's Defense Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Ivanov said last week that Russia did not export weapons that could undermine stability in troubled regions.

"Armaments we export are intended exclusively for defense. This applies to Iran," he said. "These are not offensive weapons, and they neither pose any threat to neighbors nor can they destabilize the situation in the region."

The TOR-M1, developed by the Russian company Almaz-Antei, is a high-precision missile system designed to destroy aircraft, manned or unmanned, and cruise missiles flying at an altitude of up to 10 kilometers (6 miles). It was introduced at the Russian aerospace show MAKS in 2005. Each system is equipped with eight short-range missiles, associated radars, fire control systems and a battery command post.

Its highly unlikely they will attack tomorrow since its been leaked. If they did attack, it would be under the cover of darkness at a date of their choosing. They can't afford to mess this one up like Iraq.

It's also highly unlikely the missile shield is for Iran or N. Korea(they can't even reach Japan with nukes...why would they launch one from Korea over Europe to hit the U.S.?) My bet its for Russia...

They are planning to strike, obviously since they are trying to stop the sell of even conventional defensive sophisticated weaponry to Iran, thats for sure. Should be sometime this year.

I don't think US really cares about the fact that their plan (if that what it was) been leaked...
Yankees are simply afraid to attack a country which has weapons too...

U.S. to Suffer Losses Upon Attacking Iran — Russian General

According to the head of Moscow’s air defenses, General Yuri Solovyov, Iran’s air defense system is strong and the United States will suffer losses if they attack this Middle Eastern country. Solovyev conceded that the U.S. military greatly outweighs the Iranian one and that eventually that would ensure America’s air supremacy.

“Iran’s weapons, among others, include our anti-aircraft systems which allow them to fight all types of flying objects currently in service in the U.S. army ... Besides, we all remember our specialists have trained them since Soviet times,” Solovyov was quoted as saying by Reuters news agency.

Iran's President, Mahmood Ahmadinejad whispers in the ear of an Iranian student on his arrival at the Iranian Club in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Sunday May 13, 2007. Ahmadinejad is in UAE for a two day visit.

Strong words by the esteemed President of the Islamic Republic of Iran stating the drastic consequence if US (or Israel) dare to breach Iranian sovereignty.

Iran's president warns U.S. of retaliation

ASSOCIATED PRESS
ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates -- Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said today that Iran will retaliate if the U.S. strikes his country -- a tough response to recent comments by Vice President Dick Cheney that Washington would prevent the Islamic republic from dominating the Middle East.

Mr. Ahmadinejad also said Iran had agreed for the benefit of the Iraqi people to meet with the U.S. in Baghdad to discuss security in Iraq.
"[The U.S.] cannot strike Iran," he said at a press conference during a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates. "The Iranian people can protect themselves and retaliate."

As normally expected should the country be invaded in an unjustified matter.

His comments followed those on Friday by Mr. Cheney, who said from the deck of an aircraft carrier [video] in the Persian Gulf that the U.S. and its allies would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and dominating the region.

Who said the following quote?

"By 2010 we will need [a further] 50 million barrels a day. The Middle East, with two-thirds of the oil and the lowest cost, is still where the prize lies."

You guessed it. That's Dick who delivered a speech as Halliburton chief in London back in 1999.

He's a real heartless bastard that depend on telling as many lies as he can handle and still expect the people -- particularly the military personnels at his grandstanding speech -- to trust him like sheep with eyes physically removed and their hearing frequency tuned to propaganda.

Ironic a Zionist media shill Wolf Blitzer have something to say about Dick's attitude towards Iran as shown below.

Despite the tense words, the United States and Iran announced yesterday that they have agreed to meet in Baghdad to discuss security and stability in Iraq.
"Both parties have confirmed the talks will take place in Baghdad in the presence of the Iraqi government," Mr. Ahmadinejad said today. "We decided we were ready and prepared to do this to support the Iraqi people."

It's nice of Iran to offer repairing the mess the USA left behind courtesy of the Elite-Zionist coordinated campaign to invade Iraq for a number of reasons not related to liberation and WMD.

But they must remember US officials (pretending to represent We the People as if we approve of the invasion) retain its characteristic arrogance in rejecting the offer despite the horrific way of life occupied by consistent patterns of outlaw violence & terror in post-war Iraq.

The Iranian president, in a subdued mood after the previous night's raucous anti-American rally in a Dubai soccer stadium, repeated his calls for the United States to leave the Gulf region. Washington holds military bases in all Gulf countries except Saudi Arabia.
In stark contrast to Mr. Cheney's low-key visit, Mr. Ahmadinejad was greeted with fanfare by the top leaders of the Emirates, who apparently had no objection to yesterday's rally.

What did USA expect?

Meddling in the Middle East and Central Asia affairs lead to rabid anti-American sentiment as well as fuel enmity towards State of Israel, which is one of the reasons USA invaded Iraq to give the Elite-Zionist masters assurance in security cooperation.

Close to a million Iraqi slaughtered and thousands of American, British and the Coalition lives expendable for oil, Israel and geopolitical advantage only the elite few saw as beneficial to seek the furtherance of profiteering. This is the definition of Imperial West values. Same old crap like the former British Empire, French colonialism (one of the principal reasons for US's involvement in the Vietnam War) and Belgium occupation of Congo for exploitation of resources.

It goes way back to slavery in Biblical times up to the Spanish empire's brutal conquest of the New World.

Mr. Ahmadinejad said relations with the Emirates had taken a "quantum leap," with the two countries agreeing to create a joint committee headed by their foreign ministers to boost cooperation in tourism, trade, energy and development.
"There's a willingness on both sides to upgrade relations," he said. "Relations between Iran and the U.A.E. can be a model for all the countries of the region."
Mr. Ahmadinejad appeared to be pushing his agenda at a time when the U.S. administration's popularity in the region is at a low point. He said Iran is ready to band together in a Gulf-wide security alliance with Washington's traditional regional allies.

The relations would be smoother if not for the deviousness of the Neoconservatives and Zionists that seek to throw the wrench in the peace and diplomatic relations process at every opportune time by venomous lies, shrill propaganda and mass-scale sabotage through one-sided, self-interested, prejudiced behavior in diplomacy as well as perpetrating staged terror attacks (Mossad/Israel mercs run the covert operation by setting up military-grade bombs all over Iraq and even spill into Iran).

If America ever touch Iran in yet another military misadventure, the credibility - whatever is left of the US where the ruling class dictate the foreign policy in the most backward, regressive course in New York and Washington - will be vanquished and the world knows USA have lost its moral compass. The Establishment faction that decide the policy to the detriment of liberty and conscience in policy conduct should be terminated when the time comes, for they have lit the fuse on the trail of powder that lead to the warehouse of international amicability.

Do not underestimate the fervent patriotism of Iranian people. They will defend their country vigorously whereas the cowardly elite might impose mandatory draft in America and Great Britain to force average citizens to fight for the ruling class under brainwashed or forced condition.

It's best to leave Iran alone, or there might be hell to pay.

Iran can withstand any form of aggression - defense minister

23/ 05/ 2007

TEHRAN, May 23 (RIA Novosti) - Iran is prepared to withstand any foreign military attack and will repel decisively any form of aggression, Iranian media said Wednesday citing the country's defense minister.

"Islamic Iran will counter any threats from abroad using its Armed Forces, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, and will give a destructive response to enemies and aggressors," Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said.

His statement comes in light of U.S. naval maneuvers off Iran's coast as the United States Wednesday beefed up its military presence in the Gulf deploying two aircraft carriers and landing ships packed with some 17,000 Marines.

The U.S. has included Iran along with North Korea in President George W. Bush's "axis of evil," with Tehran consistently defying international calls to suspend uranium enrichment, which would bring it closer to acquiring a nuclear weapon, while Pyongyang tested a nuclear device in October 2006.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said on Tuesday the Iranian government was "sowing the seeds of their own destruction" by clinging the power in the face of anti-government unrest.

Biden told MSNBC that the Iranian government "lost their moral credibility in their own country and around the region" when it used violence to put down recent protests.

"We are moving with the world including Russia and others to put sanctions on them," Biden said. "I think that we've moved in the right direction in a measured way."

Iran is not to be messed with, they are tough, see what they do at their own people.

What a joke.

The US and Britain and Soviet Union made them with early 1940s technology, the USSR with 30s tech, in months.

Iran has been working for years, of course they say it is for nuclear energy, they haven't even got that yet!

Following the psychopath Tony Blair's statement to the Chilcot Whitewash Inquiry i reckon Iran is going to be attacked soon.
I just hope they are ready and able to fight back.
The CIA and Mossad probably have operatives already at work within Iran judging by the amount of train derailments and plane crashes and terrorist attacks that have occured in Iran recently.

Iran's active/reserve/para military forces are greater than Milwaukee's entire population. ;)

Iran's strength is about 5x that of Iraq's and look at how hard of a time America had there. Don't be surprised if Iran will also have support from Russia and China in the long run either.
