Society changes.
What was true in 1968 is no longer true in 2008.
What is true is 2008 will no longer be true in 3008.
Why must we base our legal system on laws that were written for societies that were radically different from ours? What a bunch of Jews did over 2000 years ago is no longer important to what we are doing now.
The same can be said about Aryans, Romans, Arabs and anybody else who takes a religious history book so seriously as to make laws based on said book for the present, disregarding everything that has already changed.
Hmmm.. Now that I think about it.. Ol' JC was not all too happy with the Religious Law makers either.
God does not make Laws. God makes birds, bees and the star Bettlejuice.
Humans make Laws. Then they fight to keep themselves in power by claiming God did it.
