The gay lobby in the UK has decided that they should be allowed to donate blood, despite the fact that they are 7 times more likely to be HIV+ than hetrosexual people.

They think that not being allowed to donate blood is offensive to their sexuality, and that this is more important than a 50% increase in people contracting AIDS from their potentially polluted blood.

The government should not allow this madness to happen. If I ever need to receive donated blood in hospital, I would not want to also have a 50% increased risk of catching the Arse Injected Death Sentence.

Well I think my car insurance is offensive but I have to except it as my age group is more likely to crash.

I read somewhere that if you're HIV positive you're likely to get AIDS by taking the perscription drugs given to sufferers.

Will check the doc when I've got a bit more free time.

If they are ignoring the fact that it would mean a %50 increase, then they are idiots and it would be un real if they went ahead with it.... (so probably will)

But I bet its more a case of the guy people saying that there is not a %50 increase and that is false info... that sound more like what they are saying...

of course they test the blood, they even do it here in dirty 3rd world south africa.
it is a pity that some people can't get past the very superficial fact that some men fall in love with men.
seriously, if we can't even get past the fact that some holograms in male form sleep with other holograms in male form, there is very little hope for us.

According to latest medical research, the chance of receiving an HIV-infected blood unit is estimated to be 1 in 676,000 or less.

kinda puts paid to the 50% increase in risk, doesn't it?

But why should being gay cause a 50% increase in the chances of getting aids?
It should come down to weather, how or wear the blood is checked.
I dont see how sexuality can realy have any bearing on it.

Going to blood.co.uk enables people to do a little self-assessment to determine whether they're eligable to donate. Not only does it give information regarding HIV, but also Hepatitis and whether you can donate if you've recently suffered with Jaundice or if you've had tattoos or piercings within a certain timeframe of wishing to donate. Quite informative, I thought. :)
