I didn't set out to be that way (with the macro shots), but I think it came naturally to me because even as a child I was fascinated with the smaller creatures around us. I would watch ants for hours...carrying their food, making bridges, etc. So, I find myself more tuned into the finer details of things, although I do love the larger pictures, I just can never seem to capture it exactly as I'm seeing it. A more expensive camera might do the trick! LOL!
When we went to the Bahamas, I found myself documenting the striking difference between the tourist traps vs what the locals experience. I'll dig those up sometime soon and post them.

Thanks pollock, yes the river pic was a real success - I used slide film as opposed to normal camera film - and that REALLY brings out the colours - infact I tried to take the same pics at autumn last year with normal film and it just looked awful!
Nows a good time to get out into the woods as bluebells will just be starting to blossom - I intend to get out there and get some shots.
As for video editing - absolutely worth getting into and highly addictive - really really fun - if you have any queries I could probably help or put you in touch with some of my friends who are closer to being professional film makers.
As for examples - yep - check out my latest film here ( brace yourself - somewhat satirical humour!)

...there's a few other gems lying about if you do some digging in my youtube profile, but hope some of those put a smile on your face or keep you entertained! I use a couple of dv cameras and edit on Adobe Premiere 6.5.
As with most things in my life, my style is always eclectic! As it goes I'm just about to start editing a Buddhist Mandala Sand Painting I filmed a couple of days ago. If you've got an account at youtube, be sure to subscribe.

Garth, Bougainvillea and Hibiscus. Two of my faves! Thanks so much for sharing that with me. I love them.
Our house was previously owned by an elderly lady who planted (overplanted really) only flowering plants in the yard. So, everything I have flowers, except the Maple and the Oaks. I have a massive Southern Magnolia (I borrowed the photo below from hiltonpond.org).
http://www.hiltonpond.org/images/MagnoliaSouthernFlower02.jpg
The flowers are often as big as a person's entire head! She'll be blooming within weeks. I see other Magnolias around town are already in the throes of blossoming.
Right now my Confederate Jasmine is blooming, and oh boy, that is just the most heavenly smell there is (that and Gardenia!).
Another tree that is quite common here is the Crepe Myrtle (photo borrowed from lakechapalagardenclub.com)
http://www.lakechapalagardenclub.com/July%2004%20Crape%20Myrtle2.JPG
These beauties, that come in a variety of colors, flower ALL summer long. They have big heavy bushels of flowers. I have one at the end of my property, but it has been left to grown naturally so it doesn't look as good as the pruned trees. One of these days, I'll get someone to prune her.

Hey Tin, thanks for the pics and stuff..Cool as..
Yep ya can't beat gardenias and jasmine for the best fragrance around, it's the best. You must have similar growing conditions to me, because both do really well here (sub tropical), just mine are all finished as we are coming into winter. The Gardenia Florida's (presume they come from your neck of the woods with a name like that??) flower abundantly for about 6 month's and the smell becomes so thick its almost intoxicating. Love the magnolia...wow as big as person's head...thats one big flower.:D
The more plants the better I reck'on, less room for the weeds to grow :)
Only thing thats does'nt do well here is azaleas, not sure why, just never see a good one, they tend to go all sticky, and don't produce many flowers.

Intoxicating is right! But gawd, what a high!
Yes, the tropical plants like the Bird of Paradise and Banana trees do well here in a controlled environment, because we can have very intense heat and not a whole lot of rain (in between hurricanes that is!). So, they do well if watered regularly.
I keep my yard (reluctant to call it a garden!...LOL) very much Xeriscaped. Everything is drought resistant (except my sweetpotato vines...have you every planted a sweet potato?). All my plants live through intense drought and need little attention. I have a Bleeding Heart that grows up the railing at my front door, and the drier it is the more it flowers. Weird eh?
http://www.globalfailure.com/images/bleedingheart.jpg
A little out of focus, but you get the idea....:)

HeyTin, well there ya go, i presumed that you guys would be a more sub tropical environment, sort hot and wet, but then again we seem to be heading more for a smililar climate as you as we are experiencing longer spells between rain.
Na, have not planted a sweet potato vine although I have heard of them, will have to check it out further. Bit yes on the bleeding heart, great vines, abundant flowers.
Took this pic yesterday at the local botanic gardens (was meant to be at work, but stole a couple hours..shhh..don't tell anyone);)

They own quite a lot of land in the UK. Here is an article I just found on the area (Lulworth Cove / Durdle Door)....

Hi lookfar,
Yeah I know what you mean......I’ve seen a few strange things around that area myself. I was walking about 2 miles or so past Durdle Door to the west when I came across a huge obelisk about 20 feet high on the coastal path......I remember thinking to myself.......WTF!.......is that thing doing here, it was really strange and out of place with no markings on it.......anyway a bit further on there was another one standing in a field exactly the same.......why would there be 2 obelisk in such an isolated area?
In the next field along its edge there was loads of strange ornamental stone arrangements I’ve never seen anything like it......I was starting to get a bad vibe from the place......I wouldn’t be surprised of some bad shit goes on down there I just wish I had a camera with me to take some photos.....ah well maybe next time I’m down there I’ll get some.

WTF indeed! Did they have inscriptions or anything? I've not walked that far west myself, but have done the Lulworth to Durdle Door walk a few times & recall having different vibes in certain points. Hmm, I'll have to check it out when I'm next down there...

No there was no inscriptions on either of the obelisks they were both 3 sided, smooth and standing on a square plinth......I definitely got an ominous feeling in that general area......it's quite a tough walk to get there lots of steep hills to climb......it's well worth it though......

All the photographs posted here are unique and I would be chuffed to have taken any of them myself, that's for sure.

Love that avatar! Great photo!
Those are Rune Stones in a tiny little Swedish village called Rök, not far from my husband's hometown. I actually intended to do some charcoal "rubbings" of the Runes, to frame and possibly give as gifts, but it didn't work that way, so I just took close-ups of them instead.
A big church was built beside the Runes, and the all-seeing-eye in the other photo, was above the church door.
We spent the whole day riding (in Gramps' 32 year old Volvo) from Rune to Rune in that area, and also visited many churches (mainly to photograph their doors...such interesting doors there), and also to see if I could find any more eyes anywhere.

Oh yes, I try and snowboard for at least a week a year. I LOVE being in the mountains, but this sport covers me for the rest of the year due to lack of snow!
Hence my quotes below, bomb hills not people ;)

Not many skeeters at the moment. We have had a drought for years so not much water lying around  I am only 3kms from the city so not many here anyway.

The stone fruits grow better in the cooler climates of NSW/Victoria/ South Australia. Mangos, bananas, paw paws grow better in the warmer climate up north.
Some citrus fruit grow quite well here and we have wonderful strawberries and macadamia nuts. People do grow the tropical fruits but not commercially.

http://www.postiebikechallenge.org/previous_challenges.htm
52 raving lunatics rode a postie bike from Brisbane to Alice Springs over dirt, stones, bulldust, sand and a little bitumin. Not all made it to Alice. She did! It is a charity ride and all proceeds to went to Rotary who donated the bikes or the money to Aboriginal communities.

The Jacaranda trees are blooming beautifully now - these pictures I took
today of a few trees in our neighbourhood. The trees come originally
from Rio and Argentina and now about 50,000 line the streets of Pretoria
and in the suburbs. Here are few Jacarandas with their lovely colour -
which I only now appreciated. I took them so for granted.

Got some of the gear back but not my best lens and Canon 1d Mark 2 also still not got back my Tamron 180 m macro. I live in hope. At least this shit has been charged with fraud. Sad when you can't even trust your friends.

Hi all
Thought i'd share some of my holiday panoramas. I have a R.E photography franchise in Oz but these are holiday panos i made... I wish i could shoot this stuff all day, but i live in the desert! Im a pathological photographer, cant help myself. Panos are my fave.
These are from the Whitsunday Islands in Australia.
