I have decided that I am going to read the Bible and the Quran so as to have a better understanding, and to help make my own mind up about the roll of these religions. As their seems to be a lot of people hear who hold strong opinions of these religions and religion in general I am curious of the percentage who have taken the time to read up on the subject.

I voted for "I have read both books and find them truthful" but I believe that most religions and philosophies contain at least an element of truth.

Bible and Quo'ran are good books of Neural Linguistic Programming, full of metaphors to put ignorant people under mind control.

I'm persuing the same investigations at the moment, would love to one day be able to speak and write Arabic and Hebrew.
Catfood I think both these religions share a common source, good on you for looking into it for yourself and studying it from both angles, I would say get some egyptology books and resources for the Old Testament you won't regret it!

I am reading both books for years and years.... and still I have a lot more to read!
I was reading them from different angles; looking for different things and finding them (from historic point of view, psychologic, realistic etc.)
3 years ago I had an Expirience, similar to D.Icke's, when my spiritual pair of eyes opened. After it passed I runned home and jumped to read the Bible (for weeks of no sleep, of course), and I was reading completely new book! All that I've seen in those hours when, let's say: The Holy Spirit fulfilled me, all is written in The Bible, only I've never seen it because I was reading it with my brain, and now I read it with my spirit.
Then I took Kur'an in my hands, and wow: the SAME things are written in it too!
Then I've found 2 religious forums (I am from ex-Yugoslavia, we have many Christians and Muslims), both very "extremistic" and dogmatic in their religion. I've found there few Christians and Muslims with the similar Expirience like I had (they are leading those forums), and yes - we are talking about the same things.
I have to add that all things that I've seen I've also found in this 2 books, and there is not one thing I've seen that would be different from things written in them.
So: spiritual world about whom they say (and I saw) is THE SAME.

CATFOOD: you got a good advice: read about old Egyptian gods, you will be surprised!!! That is a eye-opening research!
And I have to say that Old testament is really different from the New. Unluckilly both are quite devastated through history, but still a lot is saved.
If you are interrested in the story about creation, especially about creation of Adam and Eva, read books from ZECHARIA SITCHIN
...and story about GILGAMESH tells a lot to open-minded reader
If you are more interrested in spirits, bad and The Holy One, then The New testament - Works (deeds?) of Apostles, I don't know how it is translated, and Letters... Or you can invite one and talk in private with him ;) -I was joking: pls. DON'T talk with the demons, they are lyers and bad ones; talk only to The Holy Spirit, believe me He does have a lot to say!!!

I have read both book and I believe both of them speak truth.
I am very, very cautious of interpretations and folks who use the books to gain personal power.
As a friend of mine said: they are history books.

Hi Catfood:
Better Informed. Better Conclusions.
Read for Yourself and make up your own mind.
Of all the implausible occurences in the Book of YHVH, and there are many, is the Prophecy that the THIRD TEMPLE, will be built on TEMPLE MOUNT NEXT TO THE DOME OF THE ROCK!

I may be considered Biased as I like these Peoples Work-HoY-that said, judge for yourself.
