I wasn't sure where to post this. It's not 'hidden science' but it could be fun! :D

MATRIX STYLE 'VIRTUAL WORLD' IN A FEW YEARS

(snip)
Are supercomputers on the verge of creating Matrix-style simulated realities? Michael McGuigan at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York, thinks so. He says that virtual worlds realistic enough to be mistaken for the real thing are just a few years away.

What if we're already in a virtual world and don't know it?:confused:

Has anyone read the books of the Sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf. Maybe we're like the characters who were playing "Better than Life"!

Hehe, that was a great episode. The hologram guy ended up knocking up the girl of his dreams and had 10 kids that could not fit into his sports car, and later while he was finally becomming captain of the Red Dwarf and was eating fine food with all the commanders, then his father comes to tell him off once more and they ended up having to flee everyone because of his fears getting the best of him :D

Sorry for spoiling the episode, but there is still lots of fun details in it if you havent watched it yet.

That doesnt matter , because as for now we just cant reprogram it.I know you say we can , but prove it ? Can you change the gravity of the earth , size of the moon and add/remove animal species as you please ? No ? And i mean in the way that everyone see it change! If that doesnt work , it doesnt matter if we are in hologram , because we dont have control over it.In computer generated reality you can build a reality from scratch and tell EXACTLY what kind a stuff will be real and what not.

Oh but we can, but if you had the moon go away, then you would probably be in a dimension where the moon just didnt exist instead, so others wouldnt be all that surprised. I guess.

Still, we are able to recreate our body after having it blown or smashed to pieces, telepathy, telekinesis and make illusions that others around you are able to see as if they were real and much much more. I guess removing or moving the moon is quite alot of minds you would have to effect to have that happen, not to mention the moon and Earth itself.

Yea, at first I did not like it much, but the concept is good :)

I had an interesting thought awhile back, the only way to prove that we are not already in an artificially created computer enviroment would be to stretch the CPU of that program. A detailed world like our own may be enough to stretch the CPU, creating "lags" or "glitchs". Not that i beleive that we are in a computer created world, more like holographic telepathic reality but i think the idea is sound.

Yea , but its all just talk-talk-talk , nobody has demonstrated ability to "shift" reality and i do NOT mean someone making coin tricks and spoon bending magic and then claiming its all in the mind sort of things. Now how about little quest for you , can you materialize Underworld movie Lycans and fire breathing dragons from fantasy stories (not those aliens with spaceships , but fire breathing large flying animals you see in movies) ? How about Hulk ? Can you turn in this reality ? Nope , off course not!

So reality shifting thing is just a story!
