View Full Version : Why did you choose your forum name

I'm interested in knowing why people chose the name they did for a forum name. Such as why did Limelady, our lovely moderator call herself that name. Is it because she likes limes, or why did thirdwave call himself so. Why did you call yourself by the forum name you have chosen. It's just something I've been pondering lately and I am intrigued to find out if there is any significant reason for the name forum members have chosen.

That name popped into my head one day. I've never used it before as a nick. Even my husband asked me what it meant, and I have no idea. He asked me where it came from...still no idea. So, I dunno why I picked it or what it means but I'll keep it. :p

Hi emma!! Nice to see you :)
The reason I picked limelady is because I'm half owner in a citrus orchard. We have mostly limes, some lemons, some mangos and lots of olive trees which are just reaching maturity. Owning a lime orchard has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl.....lime has always been my favourite fruit flavour.:p
Since we purchased the orchard about 9 months ago, we've been working hard to bring it back up to scratch...it was a terrible mess, and we still have a way to go yet, but we do not use chemicals on our trees, and we are going for organic certification as soon as we get the O.K
So, I am quite literally a "Lime Lady" ......modesty should prevent me from saying our limes are the best......but they REALLY are :D

Have you ever tried Key Limes?
No, we can't get them here, but somebody gave me a recipe for a "Key Lime Dessert" once. Aren't they a specialty of Florida? Our limes are Tahitian Limes.

Yes, I've not seen them any place else. I used to live in the Florida Keys (Islamorada), and had a Key Lime tree in my yard. They are absolute gems! Their flavor is stronger and more tart than regular limes. Also, they're a bit smaller than a golf ball and round. Thin rind and a lot of juice! Someone told me that their flavor was so unique because of the salt water in the ground. Do you think that could be true?
Key Lime pie....yum yum! My absolute favorite dessert. Not easy to find the real thing though. The best I ever had was in the Keys, made by a local, expatriate Cuban, lady.

I love the Simpsons:D it really has more truth in it than anything else on TV. I love the way many episodes take the piss out of our society. The corrupt police force, the crock that is religion, the education system and the dumb as dogshit teachers. This show is almost like a truthful window into humanity in a strange kind of way.
So my name is a Homer quote.:D
Homer: Lisa, would you like a donut?
Lisa: No thanks. Do you have any fruit?
Homer: This has purple in it. Purple is a fruit.

I like the contradiction / oxymoron or whatever you want to call it......
It also has connotations with the sleep like state that I feel I have awoken from over the past year. Society is in a state of converse narcolepsy these days......sleeping with our eyes open wide......
i also thought I had developed the condition a couple of years ago when I found myself to be sleeping far too much including scary episodes of fighting sleep everytime I drove for any length of time....no matter what time of the day. Turned out to be stress related. I'm ok now though :D

Bradbury made some interesting predictions back in the fifties in that novel that have now come to pass..
1. Schools no longer teach the humanities, children are casually violent.
2. Adults are constantly distracted by "seashells" (small audio devices resembling earbuds) ipods
3. Insipid television programs displayed on wall-sized screens.(Plasma screens)
4. Montag becomes a fugitive, pursued by a Mechanical Hound, a robot with the intent of killing him. http://youtube.com/watch?v=0m25xF36bDs

lumukanda
03-04-2007, 11:11 AM
i chose lumukanda, because of what he stands for in african mythology, during the first african enslavement, he was the reble slave, who fought the invaders and oversaw their downfall.
whilst fleeing, he was met by the mother goddess Ma, and he became her lover, in the process he was made immortal, but he went blind, thus he became the blind god.
the rebel slave aspect i like because it symbolises not backing down, fighting when neccessary, and the blind god aspect is the objective state that i strive for.

My name was originally just "His Lordship"...
About 2 years ago, I saw this flash animation on the internet called "Rats on Crack"..
Under the rats' cage, you had these gerbils on opiume. And they acted like victorian aristocrats. However, that got me started doing this Churchill impression, where I would address myself as.... His Lordship!
However, I kept the name but changed it into the l33t (leet) version due to my love of computers and hoping someday, demolished websites will know that name... I mean... NO!
freespark
03-04-2007, 12:44 PM
Hi everyone...
Nice thread.
My name was chosen when i joined the 'other' forum. I related Ickes work to freedom for the masses and helping to free us from the bondage of control we find ourselves in.
I knew i wanted free in my name somewhere but struggled to find something that worked....i played around with a few options and eventually came up with freespark.
This reminded me of sparks flying off an angle grinder cutting into a piece of metal which in turn reminded me of a book i read called Conversations with God where the author writes that God says we are all a little part of him/part of the 'one' whole expressing and experiencing different aspects of itself.
I liked that and it stuck.

angel in the greek means messenger , and what are we doing here ?
but leaving messages so we are all angels .Maybe this is the final battle and thisis how we choose to wage it now lol thru the hearts and minds of all free thinking men and woman .If thought creates reality then all our combined thoughts could be being tallied as we speak type awaiting the final count .So dont hide your wings my friend , isuggest you watch a few angel movies like michael starring john travolta and definatly Angel-A by luc besson if you can watch subtitiled movies its awesome in every respect
and just about sums up what we angles are all about :D

Mines so obvious lol. The spirit is eternal the body is a temporary vehicle for the spirit.
Spirit as in spirited, invincible, will never give up as in eternal.
2013 takes us past 2012 and continues into whatever beyond the fear of the end or beginning its always been and always will to be anything else would be not to be and that is the question .Nothing and nowhere is no- thing and now - here .Besides wich the mayan calendars closely link into DNA and humanity we have 20 digits fingers and toes and 13 major joints in th body so those numbers were used in their calendar system :D

I'm glad emma started this thread. I've learnt some really interesting snippets of information from all who've posted here - not least of which is the fact that I'm an angel. :D
And yes, perhaps it is us (as angel/messengers) who are heralding in the spiritual changes via the internet huh?
I love thinking of it like that...its very uplifting!
Keep it coming fellow angels! ;)
EDIT: Yes eternal, it is like paradise to us too. We intend to grow all our own organic veggies once we start living out there and although we are pretty much non-meat-eaters these days, we do like eggs and dairy products, so I want happy chookies running round and a couple of dear old moo-cows (Daisy and Dora) I can milk to make my own organic butter, cheese and yoghurt.
