There has been some private (PMs) interest in my Avatar, so I thought that I should just clear something up.

YES it is a picture of me, however, I have photoshopped a lizard's head over my own. Sorry to disappoint but I'm not actually living proof of DI's Reptoid theory:D:D:D:D

Here is the pre-photoshop version, taken of me when I was Installed as the Master of Mersey Lodge in 2002:

Sorry for any confusion caused.

How do we know you're not a lizard who photoshopped someone else's head over their own?

Thanks for clearing that up Mike..

I have a question, what would you say from your perspective are the greatest benefits of Freemasonry?

Thanks for clearing that up Mike..

I have a question, what would you say from your perspective are the greatest benefits of Freemasonry?

oohh that's quite a complicated question as the benefits have changed over the progress of time.

When I first joined my only real benefit was a sense of pride due to being a part of such an old tradition. Although, I also was able to put a lot of perspecive into the books I had been reading as a non-Mason (see my story in the other topic).

As I started to travel and visit other Lodges I made a lot of friends who I would never have met otherwise.

I joined at 28 and I was a far less tolerant person than I am today and I put a lot of my improvement down to the people I have met through Freemasonry, there are so many different types of people in it. It gives you a different world-view when you sit down to scoff with a multi-millionaire at your left and a postman on your right all having a laugh together and totally disregardng their stations in life outside the Lodge.

When I go to a Lodge meeting I come home with a general feeling of well-being and nearly always happier than when I went. My girlfriend often comments on that, I think she thinks I'm having a kinky affair. Don't know why but I think it is just the camaraderie of it.

Downside to it is that I spend far too much time on the Internet talking about it.
