I have been pondering this for a while, most people still listen to the radio every day when they are going to work etc. The usual shit is all that is on the airwaves, shit music, moron DJs etc, what if people started to set up their own pirate radio stations all over the place and started broadcasting the truth on a loop 24/7?. Is there anyone here that has the knowledge on how to set up a pirate radio station.?

I have...and i have been cought 3 times! That was 5years ago and i was still a sleep so to say! I also moved and where i live now there isn,t really a place for an antenna.

I could start one tommorow but it,s a lot of work and with all the digital radios that have pre-selected station not much people will notice.

Another way is to put one in your car....a strong one with a small antenna and then tune it over another populair station! Then putting a message on it and drive around!!

However, when the government finds out they may call it terrorism....i don,t know how wise it is to do it that way...i have been thinking about!

More opinions please!

I don't think I'd actually say I know how to set up a station, but nonetheless I am part of a group that has a little low-power FM station in Oklahoma City. No website yet, but we do have a myspace page:

Absolutely top class idea. A lot of young people listen to pirate stations. Unfortunately I am a bit of a techno phobe so cant help with the nuts and bolts of setting it up. :( sorry

I can imagine the panic mode they would go into to stop anyone broadcasting truth on the airwaves, still it would be well worth it and if enough people were doing it there is no way they could shut everybody up.
Imagine if you had 4-5 people broadcasting on different frequencies in a major urban area like Rotterdam, Dublin, London etc.. How could people ignore it?
You are right about the fact that people now use digital radios, but alot of people still use manual search as a way of tuning in stations, I know I do.
Mobile broadcasting is also a great idea, tune over a popular station and drive through rush hour traffic!.

Good to hear of someone who is actually doing it..I read on your myspace that your radio station is a relay of WTPRN. Do you select what shows to broadcast or do you broadcast WTPRN as it flows?. I think it is a good idea to select carefully what to broadcast to get the message out loud and clear.
Also I think commericals should be cut out and music put in their place.

Fantastic idea, good information and good music go hand and hand;)

This may have to be done sooner or later...

The fcc would be like stink on shit when they pick up the signal. They don't like competition (free).
