Sometimes when I am being still and feeling for energies around me, or when I am meditating or doing my own version of tai chi, I get the urge to bow. I kneel and put my hands togethor in the praying position. It first started happening when I was into reiki. It feels really good, perfectly natural.

I'm just wondering what people knoe about this posture and others. I usually end up in the posture that I see muslims use when praying..

I was meditating earlier and I had the urge to do it, so I went with it and when I bowed down with my head on the ground in front of me, I saw the colour purple (I had my eyes shut). The colour was very clear and bright. Before this I have only seen muddy, dirty colours, not very clear and bright.
I saw other colours after purple but purple was the strongest.

So, anyone else get in the prayer position? O r have any info/inisghts on postures?

Personally I believe being on ones knees is a submission to the 'gods' postition, possibly comes natural to you because of all the eons of programmig in our DNA.

Crawling, grovelling, all comes to mind. Personally I'm not fond of that position.

Great Blog Lime Lady!!! Yea , not too keen on the bowing and grovelling things myself either. The hands together gesture is very common in various spiritual disciplines. Yoga/ praying etc. Doesn't worry me too much. By the way that particular hand position is very good if you suffer RSI of the wrists.
Cheers :-)

I know what yuour saying LL, but it doesn't feel like I'm grovelling and I don't stay down there..lol.. It's more like a positon on the way to another position, as though my body wants to go through a series of them like yoga, but I'm not sensitive enough to know what to do next. I just sort of resume meditating or whatever sitting or standing.

My left arm wants to move around a lot too, well they both do, hence I call it my own version of tai chi. So I thought maybe this is a pposition that used to be goodd for energy flow or stimulation to a particular part of the body, but was then co opted by religions and made into a stiff and rigid exercise in subservience.

It';s like there is something intuitive going on, but I'm not tuned in enough to follow it all the way.

I have tried yoga, and reiki as I said earlier, but after a little while, It doesn't seem 'right' for me.

Anyway else knoe the history of the muslim prayer posture? That is the main one. The hands in prayer I tend to do a lot, quite often bringing my hands togethor after fluid movemnts off my arms, and then raising them and stretching upwards. Either sitting, kneelin or standing.

btw - I was raised a catholic and rejected it as far back as prep. still I was dragged to church evry sSunday for many years.
