I don't understand how people can drink, say diet coke or use sweeteners. the reason why is this:

When i have consumed these things in the past, especially diet coke (tbh i don't know how much of what i have consumed contained aspartame), i have had this sticky sensation; like my body telling me that this stuff is no good for you, spit it out or leave it alone.

Am i the only one i think ?

No you are not, i get that too, from a young age i could automatically tell something was diferent about low sugar drinks. My mum stopped buying orange squash for my brother as the E colourings were making him naughty, the orange squash she bought without e clourings was, sugar free and at the age of about 10 I stopped drinking squash because i didn't like the taste of it, only to find out since that it was the aspartame i didnt like. aspartame actually makes me more thirsty than before i take a sip.

Also I used to love all flavours of Tango, then about 6 months ago i bought a bottle took one swig and spat it out, as I could imediatlely taste the aspartame, looked at the ingredeients and they had added it, even though it still has sugar in it.

this stuff has been one of my pet hates for years, firstly , cos I worship at the feet of the sugar gods I've been aware of it for years, was mistakenly under the impression that it had been banned in the states while still onsale in the u k , loathed the sticky aftertaste obviously! watched incredulously as it gradually crept in to every soft drink (almost) in the u.k. and got increasingly frustrated at the apathy displayed by everyone I tried talking to about it.
last week I saw the documentary 'Sweet Misery' on google video , I never thought aspartame was that bad but along with the realisations of the past year more confirmation for me that we're not the mad ones , and 'this' is really happening.

That tells me a lot of the maker of that product.

Totally agree with you umbrex. Diet Coke tastes extremely awful. Couldn't drink a whole can in all my life even the times when I didn't know about aspartame.

They put that damn thing in almost everything. Lately i just drink mineral water or tea. Otherwise I have to shuffle through all the fine printed ingredients to calm myself enough to drink anything.

While aspartame is found in some Diet Coke, it's also found in artificial crab, pickled ginger, chewing gum, etc without people's awareness. In Japan, you can find Diet Coke sweetened with Stevia. Stevia is not difficult to grow, and has no known negative side effects.

I used to drink alot of well known 'diet cola' at uni, and recently I was found to have a golf ball size mass at the front of my brain (I have the MRI scans to prove it). The neurologist says its not a tumour, thankfully, but I wonder is this part of my brain that has been 'plasticised' due to the formaldehyde created that gets past the blood- brain barrier. I should have stuck to the normal poison.

I never drink soft drinks and avoid juice. I mostly drink only water.(bottle water, since I live in Toronto and we have fluoride in the water)

Since I stoped drinking pop, i feel better, sort of a feeling i can't describe.
I wish my little sister would stop drinking pop but i think she is addicted.
POP is addicting

Same here, im not as irritable as i used to be, I can drink tap water since my city was smart enough to reject fluoride, i prefer it bottled though.

I read once that all plastic is formed using lead (look up lead in vinyl school lunch boxes). Plastics also commonly contain and release an estrogen mimicker. Recycling plastic that you didn't need is not eco-friendly. By buying bottled water, you are supporting an industry that not only poisoned your water to begin with, but further pollutes your environment. Aren't we just as bad as them if we're polluting the earth for others for our own selfish benefit?
