Took the words out of my mouth. I'm glad she is alive but I hope no one in that family was abusing her.

You would have thought the police would have checked in the relatives houses ? "Just a coincidence dear nothing to worry about"

Yeah exactly. They had checked OTHER peoples houses but not the relatives...hmmmm:cool:
Btw Whilst checking other peoples houses, did you know that they were actually asking the colour of the eyes of EVERYONE who lives in each house they checked

The stuff about the grandparents appears to be wrong - but how could such a story come out anyway? Apparently it's a 39 year old man who's own kids had been taken into care...sounds feasable certainly but where did the grandparent story come from?

She wasn't at her grans house, she was found in the house of a 39 year old man 1 mile away, the police were tipped off by neighbours who heard the girl. the man has been arrested. Don't know where all the wrong information posted on this thread came from... thats how rumours start!
I live about 15 minutes drive away from dewsbury.

It said it on BBC News 24 that she was under the bed in her grans house. The mainstream media ARE THE ONES starting the rumours, just like they always do. I am guilty of repeating. This is the land of confusion. Dont' believe the "truth".

Missing Shannon Found Alive (http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30100-1309334,00.html?&lid=NEWS_TAB_MISSING_SHANNON_FOUND_ALIVE&lpos=TABCONTENT)
Updated:18:52, Friday March 14, 2008
Missing schoolgirl Shannon Matthews has been found alive - 24 days after she disappeared.
She was discovered around a mile away at the home of a man related to her stepfather, say Sky News Online sources.
Shannon Matthews
Police smashed their way into a flat in Lidgate Gardens in the Batley Carr area of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, and emerged carrying Shannon, neighbours said.
A 39-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of abduction.
The man is "remotely related" to Shannon's stepfather Craig Meehan, according to Sky sources.
The nine-year-old was found "concealed" in the base of a divan bed at the address.
Neighbours said the young girl looked "quite calm" and officers confirmed she was okay as she was brought out.
Resident Mandy Dixon, 37, said: "I couldn't see Shannon's face - she was covered up. She was clinging to the officer for dear life."
She said the suspect was then "dragged" out of the property and into a waiting vehicle.
"He wasn't walking, he was just limp. There were two men on either side of him. They were dragging him."

Another local resident, who did not want to give her name, said: "One of my neighbours heard banging.
"When he went outside, police were breaking the door down - the man wouldn't come out so they broke in. Apparently they found her in bed."
The neighbour believed the man who occupied the flat where Shannon was found lived alone and had children who had been taken into care.
She added: "We haven't seen him for two or three years. But apparently he's come back."
The woman who lives downstairs from became suspicious after hearing footsteps, she said.
And charity Missing People said it recently contacted police after being told that Shannon might be in Lidgate Gardens.
But detectives said they attended the address and made an arrest "as part of an ongoing investigation".
Earlier reports claimed the little girl was found hiding under a bed in her grandparents' home.
Police had been searching for the nine-year-old for over three weeks.
Mother Karen Matthews
The youngster has been taken to a police station where she will be reunited with her mother Karen Matthews, who is said by a friend to be "shocked and overwhelmed".
The schoolgirl's aunt Amanda Hyett said Ms Matthews, 32, had been driven away by police from the family home shortly before 2pm.
Shannon's father Leon Rose said he never gave up hope of seeing his daughter alive and being reunited with her will be like "winning the lottery".
Sky's north of England correspondent Gerard Tubb said: "I only know that she is alive but I wasn't given any impression that she was harmed.
"They've got her, they're very excited."
Former Scotland Yard detective, Mike Hames, told Sky the police "always thought she was being kept away from home by someone that knows her".
"It is quite rare that you would find a child alive after all this time," he added.
Shannon failed to return home from school after a swimming trip on February 19.
Earlier this week, Ms Matthews, a mother-of-seven from Dewsbury, West Yorks, said: "She got abducted. That's all I can say."

its amazing that she has been found alive, it goes to show that the police do do some great things after all, all we need now is to hear some GOOD news on Madeline. I am really made up for Shannons mother, she must be so relived that she is on her way home to live a full life.
