This thought just came to me, in the movie where Neo is talking to the heart of the Machine. It's telling the history of the Matrix, he is just standing there listening. Neo was the most powerful One, EVER! He could had done anything he truly wanted to, the Matrix claimed there was only two options in front of him, but there was really three.

It was sitting in a chair wearing a white suit, Neo should had humble himself saying something like. "What you say is true, we humans have failed, our history have shown that, but even you have FAILED. Oh, great-machine-maker, you have failed to see the true ME! We humans are dangerous species for sure."

Then instead of running out one of the two doors he steps up to the old man and starts to merge with him. I wonder what would happen then. The two would truly become the ONE. The great divide of human and machine finally ending.

Interesting alternative. However, the Architect was only one part of the machine world. There was also the Oracle.

There was no choice. That was what the whole conversation was about.

Nah, I think the old was trying to get Neo to make what it wanted him to do instead of wanted he really desired to do.

That's true.

The Matrix movies are interesting. I have the DVD box with Ken Wilber's and Cornel West's commentary. According to them the Matrix movies are not only ordinary entertainment, but also contain deep philosophical and spiritual meaning.

There's ref. to Gnostic, Buddhism, Zen and so on even legends and mythologies such as vampires (persephone), ghosts (the twins) etc. As well as the bloodline to Christ.

I read a really good paper on it, will have to locate the link.

Who's to say that the divide of human and machine should ever end?

And the Merovingian was an interesting choice of name for the Frenchman on a power/control trip.
