Iraqis, it would have seemed, were worth less than puppies.

The indignation caused by this video will be across the board, and anger those who were not angered before.

Despite the deaths of a million or more Iraqis, somehow this video symbolises the epitome of cruelty to a point that no one with a heart can can deny it's deplorability.

It didnt take an Iraqi girl being raped infront of her mother at Abu Graib, or prisoners being electrocuted by their genitals or smeared in shit.

It didnt take the genocidal extermination of children that led up to the war, or after it.

Oh no. For some that was entirely acceptable. But what really got everyones goat, was this video.

The puppy is grabbed by its neck

A video which apparently shows US soldiers torturing a puppy has sparked outrage after it appeared on internet sites such as YouTube.

The footage, which is just 15 seconds long, shows a man dressed in military uniform holding the black and white puppy up to the camera by the scruff of its neck.

He then hurls it into the distance and the puppy can be heard yelping as the men laugh.

The video was put up on YouTube yesterday and has attracted fierce criticsm and some suggestions as to who might be responsible. There is also speculation that the film might be fake and the puppy may not be real.

One YouTube user commented: "That guy should be seriously punished for this."

Another said: "Few things have ever made me this mad. That's disgusting."

There are also claims that it is a marine in the video as they are wearing "standard issue marine Kevlar".

And someone else wrote: "These could be Blackwater mercenaries, since there do not appear to any rank or flag insignias.

"Regardless if they are US soldiers or mercenaries: Considering the number of people these folks kill - I'm amazed we act shocked over a puppy."

Also among the comments is one user who said: "It's amazing to see that US-Soldiers are stupid enough to actually document their own atrocities regardless if they were carried out within the thick walls of Abu Ghraib or when hurling puppies off cliffs."

However, others disagree with comments such as: "It's so obviously either dead or a plush animal" or "FAKE It's completely photoshoped!"

Marine officials are calling the YouTube video "shocking and deplorable" and say it violates "the high standard we expect of every Marine".

The low-quality video shows two Marines joking as one holds up what appears to be a motionless black and white puppy, which he then hurls into a rocky gully.

what you see a few videos, read a few books. and now you know the mind of soldier. these boys in the video are horriable. but they didnt learn that from the military. there are alot of people in the world who torture animals and they are not in the military. you would think that in a place such as this. people would be open minded and free thinkers. but all I see is people easily manipulated by videos and what they read..

i was in britain years ago and talking to a friend about the army in our respective countries, in south africa we had compulsory military service, in britain, you volunteer, and he said something that has stuck with me since, he said, "any person who volunteers for the army is either a nutter, or will become one."
why someone would sign up for brainwashing and legal murder is beyond me.

THE US military is investigating a YouTube video that apparently shows a Marine throwing a puppy off a cliff.

Major Chris Perrine from the Marine Corps Base Hawaii said the man appears to be based with a unit in the islands.

The video has caused an internet backlash after footage of the incident was uploaded onto YouTube - even though it could be fake.

The authenticity of the clip, which has been viewed more than 32,000 times since it was uploaded about 36 hours ago, has not been verified, although forum members and bloggers have been frantically trying to track down details of the solider.

In the clip, a soldier held up a small black and white puppy and said how “cute” it was, before the small dog appeared to have been thrown off a cliff.

“Oh, I tripped,” the man in the clip said as the puppy was thrown.

An unseen man could be heard saying: “That’s mean. That was mean, Motari.”

As of 11.15am (AEDT), the clip was the 70th most viewed clip on YouTube in the past 24 hours.

Forum members and bloggers have declared war on the soldier, believed to be from the US, and have already posted links to a Bebo account, a residential address in Washington and a phone number.

The Bebo account linked to by users of several forums has been set to “private”, but according to comments on reddit.com many people had already written abusive messages on the member page.

One reddit user pointed out that the Bebo account-holder might not even be the person in the video.

“Hey, it might be him... let’s ruin his life, quickly, before we’re sure it was really him!!! Mob justice rules!!!” the user said in a comment.

A user on Digg.com posted a similar comment: “Can everyone just settle down until we figure out whether that video was real or a hoax? Oh, I forgot - it's the internet and we all want everything RIGHT F**KING NOW. Fine, lynch away.”

But other Digg users were not as cautious about casting blame on a man accused of being the soldier featured in the clip.

One said: “I feel like just mailing him and calling him all day… we should make him feel shameful of what he did.”

Many others said he deserved to be thrown off a cliff.

Marine officials said the video was "shocking and deplorable".

somtimes it takes doing somthing stupid to realize what life has in store for you.
Its easy for people to judge a person. when looking from the outside in. but take me for instance. joining the army was a way for me out of poverty. good health insurance. and a way to travel. and to help people. all lies but atleast I had good intentions when I joined. I have learned through life and not just reading in a book or watching a video.

good advice. i have become complacent in the last little while, i have never been one for generalisations, but i have been hoodwinked by our local media, i acknowledge it, i have allowed it to happen (we're having bit time generalisation issues here re. black and white, and it seems to be rubbing off).
what i have decided is firstly, to stop watching the news and reading the papers, and secondly, take a deep breath and do some things non NWO related, nice walks in the mountains things like that, get some perspective.
