UK sailors captured at gunpoint

Fifteen British Navy personnel have been captured at gunpoint by Iranian forces, the Ministry of Defence says.
The men were seized at 1030 local time when they boarded a boat in the Gulf, off the coast of Iraq, which they suspected was smuggling cars.

The Royal Navy said it was doing everything it could to secure the release of the sailors and marines who are based on HMS Cornwall.

They were said to be carrying out a routine patrol in Iraqi waters.

The Ministry of Defence said: "The group boarding party had completed a successful inspection of a merchant ship when they and their two boats were surrounded and escorted by Iranian vessels into Iranian territorial waters.

"We are urgently pursuing this matter with the Iranian authorities at the highest level.

"The British government is demanding the immediate and safe return of our people and equipment."

It is understood the men being held are safe and well.

Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett has summoned the Iranian ambassador to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, in an attempt to get the sailors and marines released as quickly as possible.

In a statement, leader of the Liberal Democrats, Sir Menzies Campbell, also called for their immediate release.

"Whatever the rights and wrongs of military action, British forces in Iraq are now there with the authority of a UN security council resolution... and the Iranian government should be left in no doubt of the serious implications of their action," he said.

In 2004, Iran detained eight British servicemen for three days after they allegedly strayed over the maritime border.

The UK claimed the men were "forcibly escorted" into Iranian territorial waters.

the beginning of something here?

Perhaps. Could be the false flag we've all been waiting for.

This all sounds eerily like the 2 Israeli soldiers kidnapped by Hizbollah in Lebanon last year. 'Kidnapped soldiers! Lets bomb the hell out of an entire nation'.
I bet these soldiers were deliberately placed in Iranian waters. The British '(un)intelligence' probably contacted the Iranians and told them where the boat was.
Down with the lizards!

About 4 weeks ago I read in a paper (forget which) that the Americans would attack Iran if one of 2 conditions were met. First was the obvious 'if we think they are trying to build nukes threat'. But second, was the suggestion that if 'numerous' allied casualties were sustained and this was found to have links with Iran, then the bombs would drop on Iran. All they need to do now is kill these soldiers and the Americans would go ape.

Sounds like Albert Pike's wet dream. I always have that small hope that everything the elites try do to back fires on them and their cattle over take them.

I think its tit for tat. After how the U.S. kidnapped the consulate officials and the supposed "defection"(probable kidnapping) of the head of the Quds force Asgari. Iran wants its people back.

Probably just a bargaining chip, kinda like the above poster said, tit for tat kinda thing.I do however smell a little something rotten in the way Ahmadinejad seems to be playing the role to perfection, same force behind bush and Ahmadinejad mabey?I don't know but the stench is setting off alarms for me.

Hi,

To “The Powers That Be” timing is everything........isn’t it just amazing that these sort of incidents happen at just the right time...... giving weight to the agenda.......of lets make Iran out to be a bad guy!.......so “The Powers That Be” can condition the minds of the public to buy this Bullshit!....... and so eventually justify an attack on Iran.

“The Powers That Be” are behind Ahmadinejad that’s for sure..... the hidden hand playing one side off against the other...... “The Powers That Be” have been doing this sort of thing years and they have perfected the art.

Love

Peace
