WASHINGTON, September 13 (RIA Novosti) - The U.S. has a 14-ton super bomb more destructive than the vacuum bomb just tested by Russia, a U.S. general said Wednesday.

The statement was made by retired Lt. General McInerney, chairman of the Iran Policy Committee, and former Assistant Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force.

McInerney said the U.S. has "a new massive ordnance penetrator that's 30,000 pounds, that really penetrates ... Ahmadinejad has nothing in Iran that we can't penetrate."

He also said the new Russian bomb was not a "penetrator."

On Tuesday, the Fox News television channel said: "A recent decision by German officials to withhold support for any new sanctions against Iran has pushed a broad spectrum of officials in Washington to develop potential scenarios for a military attack on the Islamic regime.".

Commenting on the report, McInerney said: "Since Germany has backed out of helping economically, we do not have any other choice. ... They've forced us into the military option."

McInerney described some possible military campaign scenarios and said: "The one I favor the most, of course, is an air campaign," he continued.

He said that bombing would be launched by 65-70 stealth bombers and 400 bombers of other types.

"Forty-eight hours duration, hitting 2500 aimed points to take out their [Iranian] nuclear facilities, their air defense facilities, their air force, their navy, their Shahab-3 retaliatory missiles, and finally their command and control. And then let the Iranian people take their country back," the general said describing the campaign, adding it would be "easy."

McInerney is well-known among the U.S. conservatives. He is the chairman of the Iran Policy Committee co-chaired by James Woolsey, former CIA director, William A. Nitze, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and Richard Schifter, former Assistant Secretary of State, and Professor Raymond Tanter, former Personal Representative of the Secretary of Defense to arms control talks in Europe.

The McInerney statement was made following a Fox News report that U.S. "officials are making plans to attack Iran as early as next summer," since Washington believes diplomatic efforts have failed.

I agree it"s not if but when is america going to attack iran they have been building on the reasons to attack iran for a while now eg:nuclear power stations: insurgents:supplying guns and expolsives etc.And they could easily launch an attack from irac if they wanted to just hope we stay out of that one.

"just hope we stay out of that one."

If you mean UK... I don't think we stay out of any of them. We may not be told but SAS always seem to be there! Its not 'we' its 'them'.

Maybe the serbs can take advantage and go hit Bush or Brown & Co. :D

Sure there are plans to attack Iran. I would estimate that there are plans to attack most countries. The how to, knowing the weaknesses etc will all be held on a database. This is what government annalists do! As to an imminent attack, this is not likely. Should the west attack another country without media build up and a long campaign of propaganda is political suicide. It is more likely that the west will wait for another large scale assault on them before any future action is taken. I think it also feasible that the SAS or any special forces are active across the entire globe, so to say they are in one specific area or country is meaningless.

either way, this one's gonna be the hard one for the DOGS OF WAR, Iran is neither Iraq nor Serbia (weakened by the Bosnian war and "DEMOCRATIC" government for 20 years now) and they should expect NICE resistance, it's something you don't want to play with if you ask me, and if I were from U.K. or U.S.A. I would be concerned on this matter, and I would somehow try to organize any kind of protest against this IMPERIALISTIC LUNACY that's been going on for Centuries now, by watching it happening and doing nothing to prevent it makes you just weaker and weaker in the eyes of "THE ALL SEEING EYE". I truly wish you all the best, I mean the people of the U.K. and U.S.A. but with the governments that you currently have "ALL THE BEST" is the last that you'll get, you'll never see the peace nor freedom...

PEACE

they could connect hamas with hezbollah/iran

then connect turkey against the kurds in northern iraq, you then have israel/palestine, syria, iran and iraq, all in conflict. the region will be engulfed in war.
