This is the perennial plea for a bit of positivity or at least a wish to focus less on the horror of the world around us...

I don't buy papers for this reason... If I wanted to know all about the horror of the world I'd buy the Sun and knock myself into a misery coma....

The key to survival in this world is to remain positive... does reading the forum make us feel positive these days?

It's not about hiding our heads in the sand, it's just a question of choosing what we focus on....

i must admit, i've been feeling the same way edelweiss, i was actually going to post something similar, it's not the forum thats bothering me per se, but just the world in general.
i know it's the same all over, but things are very negative in south africa at the moment, i won't bore you all with details, but i'm having a pretty hard time, i try and shield myself as much as possible from negativity in the media, but everyone at work is talking about it and it's hard not to form an opinion and i'll be honest, i'm having a hard time coping.
deep breaths will help i suppose, thank god i'm heading off into the sticks for a nice weekend tomorrow, one weekend of beautiful sunrises and long walks.

Nice post & I totally agree with you honey :D

I also don't buy papers or watch the news for the very same reason, I would much rather focus on more positive stuff than what the MSM feed us to keep us in fear. Don't get me wrong, it's handy to keep tabs on what's going on now & then, but to be surrounded by it on a daily basis becomes hard work & very draining.

DI's books cover the state of the world, as it is, and more esoteric concepts. I believe both subjects are applicable to this forum. Positivity the way I understand it is not to ignore events, but be able to stare them squarely in the eye and STILL remain positive. Anything else is burying your head in the sand and achieving diddly squat... in my opinion.

By taking on the situation as it is, the lesson may be squared. The more you do it the better equipped you become to progress.

So we have a fundamental difference of approach here.

you started this ages ago so maybe the place is more positive now than it was, but I feel the urge to express myself on this topic so I will unless you stop me; realistically speaking being negative is seeing problems and being positive is seeing challenges and solutions. Because of the Hegelian thing some give up and call it all a pointless illusion so why bother with the solutions. People not bothering being a problem in itself if not all give up their funny business; playing straight into some dubious hands.

Re: what is negative vs positive.

I tend to argue against war, and for birth control. Those who are against birth control are often for wars. There's a logic to this; without the wars we'd soon be piled on top of each other. Somebody has to go to make room for all the new people.

There's positive and negative sides to everything. I reckon it depends on the mindsets and intentions; the willingness to defend basic human rights without ruining nature too much, seems sound to me. Others are preoccupied with money and pensions and other futuristic unknowns.

If staying alive at all costs is positive, then I have to rethink my firm belief that life should be lived to the fullest every day so that death will not seem premature or unnatural. To die is part of life. There is nothing negative about death itself.

Death/killing/murder as a job description is another matter. People exterminating bugs might disagree.

I could split hairs like this all night long. Had a point somewhere, it escaped. :)

While thoughtful, friendly debates generate one kind of energy, full-on ego-bashing slanging matches generate quite another. What is invigorating and energising to some, is energy lowering/draining and unnecessary to others.

We all know instinctively which emotions feed what, and it doesn't take a scientific degree to work out our elite controllers (the 'high' feeders) rely on our continued 'low' energy vibrations (fear, aggression, despair etc) in order to keep doing what they do so well, so at some point I guess we all have to make the decision as to whether we want to be part of the problem or part of the solution.
