I was coming through Streatham Common train station in London on Friday morning and there was 10 police officers there, 4 Met each side of the platform and 2 specials wandering about.
The 4 police I passed were just checking tickets apparently, on the other side they were checking tickets but also had one of those portable metal detectors.
This is the first time I've used this station so I don't know if this is a one-off or a regular thing but no-one other than me and my friends (openly) found it laughable.
Maybe they'd had a tip-off that someone was dodging a particularly large fare ;)
