The origins and meanings of words , we are all familiar now with words like dis-ease and re-creation and their true meanings but something struck me today on a car journey i was having a conversation with a female friend about how they suppress the feminine .As well as spelling words thanks but cant remember who posted that one we spell as in magic words giving them power there are certain words which contain negative connotations and they have a femine root to them such as
misunderstood, mistake , misspelt , missed , misdirect ,etc you get the picture , does anyone else see this or have any other examples of the power of words or the power we give them .
:D

I've noticed we do tend to refer to the more masculine first: for example, we talk of "a knife, fork and spoon" and so on. "Ladies and gentlemen" is a chivalrous reversal of this, of course.
