Top al-Qaeda suspect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed has claimed he organised the September 11 attacks in the United States and other major terror attacks, according to the transcript of a hearing released today.

"I was responsible for the 9/11 Operation, from A to Z," Mohammed, speaking through a personal representative, said according to the transcript of the hearing on Saturday at the US military's Guantanamo Bay prison camp in Cuba.

Mohammed, a Pakistani national, also said he was responsible for a 1993 attack on New York's World Trade Centre, the bombing of a nightclub in Bali, Indonesia, and an attempt to down two American airplanes using shoe bombs.

US officials have said Mohammed, who was arrested in Pakistan in March 2003 and handed over to US custody, was the mastermind of the September 11, 2001, attacks which destroyed the World Trade Centre and damaged the Pentagon.

"I was the operational director for Sheikh Usama (Osama) bin Laden for the organising, planning, follow-up, and execution of the 9/11 operation," he said through his representative, a member of the US military.

The transcript, released by the Pentagon, showed Mohammed was present at the hearing, which is to determine whether he meets the US definition of an "enemy combatant."

The transcript had been edited by US officials. The Pentagon has said this is necessary to remove sensitive security information.

Mohammed's representative read a statement on his behalf claiming responsibility for 28 separate attacks or plots.

He also said he shared responsibility for three other plots, including plots to assassinate Pope John Paul in the Philippines and Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf.

Mohammed himself then made a long statement in broken English, in which he compared al-Qaeda leader bin Laden to George Washington, the first president of the United States.

"He is doing (the) same thing," he said. "He is just fighting. He needs his independence."

Mohammed is among 14 prisoners identified by US authorities as "high-value" terrorism suspects and transferred to Guantanamo last year from secret CIA prisons abroad.

He appeared to express some regret at the deaths caused by the September 11 attacks but suggested they were justified as part of a war against the United States.

"I'm not happy that three thousand been killed in America. I feel sorry even," he said.

"The language of any war in the world is killing. I mean the language of the war is victims."

I think what's more scary is that 99.9% of people seem to be going with this. Like they are cows that were really annoyed to hear there was a slaughter house inbetween chewing. Now the farmers have come in to tell them it's not true. So they go back to chewing.

SBS Australia just reported this farce and had an interview clip (about 20-30 seconds) of someone saying that the CIA (Catholics In America) had held him for three and a half years and used various torture treatments (he named them, including waterboarding) to obtain the 'confession'. He stated that using torture would get somebody to confess to what ever you want. They finished the report saying that instead of proving anything it may create a backlash and be a political gaff.

Good to see there is some unbiased reporting, although SBS are hardly mainline media.

If this guy was such a 'mastermind' to have planned all that they say he did, how did they outsmart him by capturing him ?

It is obvious that this guy is an attempt to justify G-Bay and the treatment (torture) of innocent people at the facility. I hope that even the sheeple can see through this obvious propaganda stunt by the American Military and government (illuminati).

Cheers for the post Jimijams.

With LOVE.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-599098805530677622 for The Road to Guantanamo

"As the friends travel through Pakistan, this seems to be shaping up as a road movie. Once they reach Afghanistan, the tone changes. There is no pretence of even-handedness. The film-makers don't skimp on showing the sadism and stupidity of the US and British soldiers. The guards behave with the same cruelty you expect to see from SS officers in lurid second world war movies. It takes a moment or two to realise that these events are based on the testimony of the "Tipton Three", not dreamed up by a screenwriter. There are occasional moments of bombast - the evocation of the Abu Ghraib photos scarcely seems necessary. None the less, The Road to Guantánamo is far more than just agit-prop. In amid the brutality, there is humour and lyricism. This is as much an account of youngsters on "a holiday in hell" as a rant against the obscenity of Guantánamo."

Is there a possibility the man may have been forced to admit to these crimes? Well shucks I dunno.

The BBC news website have a forum Have Your Say.

Generally frequented by the working masses who are of the "hang 'em high" mentality.

However a look on how they are treating this "confession" news was a pleasant surprise and a sign of hope. The top recommended posting read thus:

"America has about as much credibility as Zimbabwe in its treatment of prisoners.

Gully, UK

Recommended by 240 people "
source: BBC new website.

and many in the top recommended postings were of a similar vein ie disbelief that he actually did what he confessed to.

Thanks notaslave for posting that documentary link, I saw it last year & OMG it blew my mind, I'm so glad that it got aired on tv as it's so revelatory in detailing the atrocities. RECOMMENDED VIEWING!

Well said anoninnyc... some positive vibes radiating from your words!! Condeming 'the masses' is simply compounding the situation by sending it your detrimental energy. If this is the way you think of humanity, then you're helping to manifest that reality, you're even helping the masses to stay that way which is slowing down their spiritual growth. Re-member compassion & LOVE??:p
