History tells us over and over that some folks are considered "sacred". The Pope, High Gurus...
But there are other instances of the deification of ordinary humans:
Aztec Sacrifice comes to mind. But also deification of children in India.
Somehow, reminding ourselves of the sacred through others is not that bad. In fact, the age of Pharaos and Philosopher Kings could very well have been a golden age and we just forgot.
If you take the Vedic perspective, we are in Kali-Yuga an age where everything is ass-backwards. The Golden Age is an age where Kings are wise-men who serve everybody best.
Donno... I like thinking that a little girl in India can be worship as a representative of a Living Goddess. There is something wonderful about that.
