I'm just a about to do this, we have the choice
1) not to get into debt
2) not to prop up the enslaving global banking system

I'm making the choice

The Co-operative Bank's headquarters in Stockport is...a giant blue glass pyramid.

The symbol chosen for the Co-op's new loyalty card scheme is the known Mervingian symbol, the bee.

Just a thought.

They also have whopping great overdraft charges like the other banks, which isn't very ethical.

Like Fairtrade bananas where a little money goes to build a shitty little bridge near the growers' plantation, and most goes to schools in the terribly deprived area of...Evesham.

Ethical in some areas but not others.

I understand where you're coming from, but I don't believe the words Ethical & Bank go together, at least not nowadays.

Wigan here.

It was on a pack of bananas my grandma bought and was playing hell about. Gonna have to get a pack myself as she's binned the packaging in outrage.

Anyway, I'm not saying the Co-op IS definitely Illuminati as I haven't done much research on the matter, but I'm wary about the pyramid.

Manchester here, and a Bolton fan.:D

I didn't know the Merovingian symbol was the bee. Could you tell me a little more about that please, without taking the thread off-topic?

As for the giant glass pyramid, if it ain't inverted...look out. ;)

I don't know a huge amount about it, but I remember reading or watching it in one of David's books or DVDs. I do know that the bee was Napoleon Bonaparte's personal symbol, so it stuck out for me because I was into the Napoleonic Wars at the time. If it's not the Merovingian symbol, I'm sure it is an Illuminati symbol.

I couldn't tell you. I haven't done any reasearch into them, I guess I'm just wary of the pyramid and bee symbols, especially in the world of business. As for how they perform business-wise, again I can't say as I have nothing to compare them to.

I am also biased as I work for their complaints department... :D

LOL

Well, I was attracted by the 'ethical' tag, but apparently (according to posts on forums) you get no customer support whatsoever.

I can't say as I don't work for their business banking, or even the Bank part. I work for the insurance complaints, and I suppose every company gets the same amount of complaints we do, and we don't see the thousands of times they get it right.

Maybe they are more ethical in the people they do business with, but in matters that affect me directly, such as overdraft charges, I don't see any differences.

Whoever you choose to bank with, I hope you get the one that works best for you. :)

i find them rather friendly on the phone!
they aren't perfect with their record but much better than regular banks, at least they don't lend to arms industry, etc.

That was what interested me. :) Tbh, I don't really use a lot of customer services anyway; I do most of my stuff online.

Its true we would have no financial worry’s if we didn’t have any finances to worry about.
But I think we are over simplifying things hear, one step at a time.

Holy turkish delight! That's very ethical that is. "yay beat the bankers" innit. You can be assured ethical in this case is a brand name, a few leaflets with pictures of water tankers in Africa should do it. Notice it's got the eu flag flying proudly. I once got behind with my COOP ethical banking overdraft and they came down on me like a guillotine, no remorse, no prisoners, pay up or go to hell. They were nasty, nasty, nasty.
