In this schizoid society a "winner" is someone who plays the game, has all the little toys and trinkets to prove that he/she is "successful" and hangs around with the "popular" people. These shallow parasites base their whole lives around greed. Why would a sentient person want to aspire to have that shallow existance?. When I took the test, 25% was more of a "loser" than me. As I see it, I do not find it important being cool. I do not like attention all that much, so I rather keep out of popularity contests. Besides, to be cool some people agree to stuff, or pretend to like or dislike something, just to promote being cool. Partying can be fun, but I do find it a waste of time most the time. Don't be so down on yourself. First, taking a test online to see if your a loser is flat out ridiculous. Someone you've never met in your laugh is judging whether you're a loser based on a short multiple choice answer test --and you're taking it seriously!!

this is how i was brought up to be, i mean not to be part of this false system...and i thank my parents for it now. Omg i hate all that keeping up with the jones' kind of nonsense too. People get caught up trying to outdo eachother, buying into the false material world which means nothing in the end.

A real 'winner' is someone who does not allow anyone else to define them and to believe that definition is more correct than what they know themselves. In other words they know who they are. They have won the battle of control of their own self.

It is very seductive to think, especially if you come from the base of the hierarchy, in terms of winners and losers, it's why I used to be obsessed by the lottery and by becoming rich and famous. What I have discovered since then though is to become a 'winner' you have to sacrifice a part of yourself to conforming to hierarchical society, always on ITS terms. Yes, you can fake it and retain your own core beliefs about what it is to be human and a society where basic human rights are paramount, but how long can you maintain that facade? As a graduate (yes I'm in debt because I was not born into money) I should now be working in marketing. I studied art and the media because I felt the former could help humanity progress as a whole through understanding, and that the latter prostituded the former. However, it seemed that education is only a route to becoming a 'winner' if you are prepared to treat every other human as cattle to be herded by major corporations. This is how winners become winners. By trampling on the losers in the desperate scrum to rise to the 'top'. But the question should be, the top of what exactly...?

Also, the 'bad news' part of the post is that people like to complain about things they see around them, but there is nothing instrumental about this complaining because no-one has the knowledge or influence to change these things on a large scale. This is why I am sceptical of forums such as this one, where there is a lot of talk but no action. I'd love to help make a better, fairer, more peaceful society that believed in human equality but not enough people 'seem' to want to actually MAKE this happen. Such is the level of dominance of 'common sense' thought, particularly in the UK, where it is noble to accept your lot and make the best of it. This attitude simply will not do if things are to change.

It's a well hidden myth why those who are 'successful' are in fact successful. Cynics may say, 'they knew the right people, bought or brown-nosed their way to the top', those who believe in Gods may say 'they have a God-given, this-or-the-other', but generally it is once again, a belief that some unnameable 'thing' is present in those that succeed. It is a lack of analysis and shows just how little information journalists do actually have access to!
