Proposed electronic tagging of dementia sufferers, with their agreement, has been backed by a key charity.
The Alzheimer's Society said the plan could empower patients by allowing them to wander, but called for a debate on the ethics of gaining consent.

Many dementia sufferers feel compelled to walk about outside - the society says 60% may wander, and 40% have got lost at some point.

The government has said tagging could allow people to lead "fuller lives".

And how are tags going to enable them to lead fuller lives?

I had to laugh when I saw this on the news, as you said Shodan, the tolatarian tip toe in full flow.

It's laughable, my late father suffered with dementia and he would have agreed with a teapot if it talked to him.

There is no way these sufferers can lead fuller lives. Why not invest in better care in nursing homes which by the way, most sufferers have to sell their homes to pay for the privilage.

LOL  its almost an oxymoron surely?

Yeah i said the same thing when i over heard it on the news thimorning.....familiarise us with tags within normal home life etc....such examples have been - the microchipping of animals, tagging offenders released from jail, chips in our credit cards, in our goods such as razor blades, (anti-theft guards) stuff like this is all to familiarise us so its not so much of a shock when its introduced for our own safelty and convienience
