how I believe this works
think about it animals have a 6th sense ...know when storms earthquakes, tsunamis are happening long before there is any visible signs..... so should we....we are all born on this planet and connected in many ways.
When there is anomalies/faults/disturbances in the usually EMF/infra-sound etc animals get spooked and bolt to safer ground....us humans stay ...we my feel different/spooked or believe ghost spirits are involved...also these can trigger other psychological effects ...depression/hallucinations etc ...this may drive some people to commit suicide or a horrific acts,crazy......years later people may also feel the same thing or something if they are in the same place....but they believe they are feeling the ghost of the person that commit suicide or what ever years previous, but they are probably feeling what they did not the ghost of that person

Feelings of being watched or seeing shadows, images, etc. in the bedroom or perhaps the basement?
Believe it or not, in your bedroom your digital clock or clock radio could be the culprit! These devices emit high Electromagnetic Fields (EMF). Someone who is sensitive to high EMF can experience feelings of being watched, they can see shadows, or even images of what they believe to be spirits. Older or poorly wired electric boxes in the basement can also emit high EMF. Take note as to where you are in the basement when you see or feel something strange. If you’re near an electric box or even the transformer for your doorbell, it could well be high EMF that’s causing you to feel uncomfortable. Very old appliances and the ballasts in fluorescent lighting can an also give off high EMF. Your computer monitor, your TV, even dimmer switches can be the cause of high-strength EMF.
While electrical codes require that metal plumbing lines be grounded, plumbing lines and even natural gas lines can serve as conduits for small amounts of electricity which produce EMF fields. It is even possible that a neighbor’s house could be the source of the high EMF in your home. If there’s a water pipe grounding issue in a home that is interconnected to yours by plumbing lines, you could be experiencing higher than normal EMF fields in your home.
Noxious odors from things like paint remover and other solvents can also cause the same effects as high EMF. These odors can travel through the vents reaching every area of the home.

Electrical engineer Lewis B. Hainsworth, MA, was among the first to suggest that human health is linked with geophysical parameters by way of the naturally occurring Schumann's ELF. His hypothesis identified naturally occurring features which determine the frequency spectrum of human brain-wave rhythms:
The frequencies of naturally occurring electromagnetic signals, circulating in the electrically resonant cavity bounded by the Earth and the ionosphere, have governed or determined the 'evolution' or development of the frequencies of operation of the principal human brain-wave signals. In particular, the alpha rhythm is so placed that it can in no circumstances suffer an extensive interference from naturally occurring signals.
Hainsworth concluded that the frequencies of human brain-waves evolved in response to these signals. If his hypothesis is correct, conditions for evolutionary changes in human brain-wave patterns have now been established. Furthermore, variations in these patterns can produce mild to disastrous health and behavioural changes.
The nature of the applied stimulus makes it difficult to identify the responses directly, as they are most likely to occur in the form of stress-related conditions. They will therefore show up as drastic increases in mental disturbance, antisocial behaviour, psychosomatic conditions and neurological disturbances. Some electrical field phenomena have already been linked with abnormal cell growth and a decrease in immunocompetency.
