The forms will ask householders to give details of their children, mortgage, ethnic background, religion and sexual orientation.
Civil rights campaigners yesterday called the survey 'intrusive and very sinister', pointing out that any information handed over will not be kept confidential.
Ministers have even given instructions that local councils must try to disguise their involvement in the survey to avoid attracting criticism.
And they have ruled that the questioning must be paid for out of council tax and carried out every two years.
I Suggest we tell them the BIGGEST PILE OF SHITE WE CAN THINK OF:D

Lemme play devil's advocate for a minute here...
Lets say that one day, after January 2012, we all wake up and realize WE CAN READ PEOPLE'S THOUGHTS!
Suddenly, privacy is a thing of the past. Nothing can be hidden, nothing can be filed away.. You all become open books for everybody else. Suddenly NOBODY can hide their most inermost private desires from anybody.
Killers are seen for who they are BEFORE they can kill.
Rapists the same.
Gays.. Will be gays.
What use privacy then?

Hi steevo, the answer to your question is in the article as follows....
Unlike the ten-yearly national census, it will not be legally compulsory to fill in and return the form.
However, those who do not comply are likely to be sent multiple reminders.
These multiple reminders, may constitute as harassment though?
This may be worth looking into legally?
But to be honest this whole thing stinks. I have read that Mr Brown has stated in the past that given the chance, he will sell your personal details to big business.
So with that thought in mind and after reading this:
Information provided for the new council survey will not be protected by basic confidentiality rules.
This looks to be the perfect opportunity for that plan to be fulfilled, that’s if he has not already sold them with the latest spate of ID information losses.
I for one am going to get to work on a pre emptive letter to my town council stating that, they should save my money and not send me one, as it will not be filled in and I will only send it back to them with no postage paid.
I also plan to give them details of why I will not be filling it in, with number one being, that they cannot be trusted to keep them safe!

The here and now is a war between Democracy and Islam (Shieks).
Neither one in it's current state seems worth defending to me.
