I am watching this flick just now. And by golly I feel like I'm trippin balls. I understand it perfectly. I just wonder how deep it runs and how specific it is. I don't think I am the only one. Edelweiss Pirate, tru3, demonsnare, any others care to check in on this one? Maybe it's just me. DAMN that's too real!

actually, seamus, after getting to know you on this forum and reading your posts over the last few weeks, i think truman's story is much like yours: you're becoming aware of a reality that's always been there, but just behind a curtain. who you've always been. you're becoming aware of infinite Being, yourself as exactly That! keep on keepin' on, baby! :)

I believe Hollywood is telling us the truth in a lot of cases, hiding it in plain view, so to speak. It is only those of us who have our eyes wide open and the veil lifted to a certain extent, who can see it. Others just think, " wow! That was a way-out fantasy. Where do they come up with this stuff?"
I loved the Truman Show.

Truth is stranger than fiction.
I agree with I am. Monsters Inc. is one movie that David Icke talks about as being a reflection of what's happening.
Why look to make something up when the 'truth' will freak everyone out a lot more ???
With LOVE.

I think there is a law being explained in these films. The rule is,the truth has to be given to us,one way or another, maybe in film, and we have to make a choice in what we believe.Problem is it may be obscured, abstract or an intellectual leap to understand it but nevertheless its there and by our choice of belief we are giving permission for those with the reins to steer us.The law is:WE HAVE TO MAKE A CHOICE TO BE SLAVES,CONSCIOUSLY OR NOT!So by watching the truman show etc we are being told the truth and if we choose to ignore or disbelieve we are giving permission for the reality of the truman show in our lives, understand?

Trueman show was great, for me it's all about illuminati social mind control, I loved it but I do wonder if in attempting to 'break out' of the film studio life we live some people might do something silly (sorry to be so cynical)... Have you seen Perfect Sunshine of the Spotless mind yet Seamus?
An incredible film.. It details the breakdown of the psyche during a gnostic illumination experience and the character's attempt to 'save' himself while his mind is being stripped away...
Probably the most beautiful film I've ever seen.
In the days of ancient Egypt the initiatic secrets were wriiten on temple and tomb walls for the select few, these days they are a form of mass entertainment...
Wonder if it has any positive effect...

I enjoyed the Truman show but the ending was ironic in that once Truman had broken free the masses that had been following his virtual life very quickly drifted back into the matrix.

you know, i thought the same thing. i'm not sure this phenomenon is conscious though. it could very well be that ideas are floating around in the "ether" (i know that's a really fuzzy term, sorry lol) and are pulled into our dimension when some taps into them. hasn't anyone noticed how many times "pairs" of movies come out about the same time?
or, it's trying to get people gradually used to the idea that they are an energy source. ewwwwww.....
people here have posted about humans being harvested (astrally). well, anybody seen the movie "the island"? in this context, i saw it as a companion piece to the matrix movies. some really interesting insights in this movie, imv.

The co-producer of the Truman Show film is Richard Luke Rothschild.

Wow I wasn't expecting such a response. Thanks for all the input. :):):) (Nothin left to do but smile, smile, smile) I haven't seen that "Perfect Sunshine" film yet. I'll put it next on my list. Anyone got a torrent? my present circumstances somewhat prohibit a purchase (It's not that I'm poor, it's that any money I spend is tracked).
Truman Show for me was like Jacob's Ladder, and also Drop Dead Fred, to an extent. A lot less sinister than JL though. You could hardly be MORE sinister than Jacob's Ladder.
Does anyone else find it odd that Jim Carrey is in all these awakening type movies? The Mask, Liar Liar, Truman Show, and this Eternal Sunshine movie? It seems to rather be occupying his time, no?

I actually started to post a response saying just that and decided against it. Isn't he now in the Number 23 movie? I am not sure that it is intentional or he is just being drawn to play these parts by something he is totally unaware of. One would think the penny would drop eventually if it hasn't already.

The Truman Show is brilliantly meaningful!
Another very similar film is The Village. I won't post spoilers, but it's also about a group of people who are deliberately held in an unreal world. In this case, the "Elders" of the Village believe they are doing this for the good of the poeple. The justifications they employ are virtually the same as the ones "Christof" does in The Truman Show.

Yes, I think The Village is especially meaningful in relation to mind-control type cults.
And, some of the old Twilight Zone episodes had similar themes.

The Truman Show is an amazing movie. I found this website that looks at meaningful movies and decodes them. It has the truman show at the top and other films about a fake reality.

I read a short interview with Jim Carrey two weeks ago in the Uk Metro paper, and it was clear from what he was saying that he has a deep interest in human consciousness and spirituality. Amongst other things, he talked about how his belief that we all create our own reality has radically shaped his own life. ( ie The Secret & What The Bleep). He also mentioned his scepticism of organised religious institutions.
I reckon the spiritual or philosophic aspect to many of the movies he has been in, is intentional, and I expect that this will continue to manifest in his future film choices. In a time when some celebrities seem keen to express their organised beliefs to the public, such as Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise, I feel that Jim Carrey may well be a breath of fresh air in his enthusiasm for spiritual matters without being part of a specific religious organisation.
Ps. I feel that the Truman Show was very much influenced by 'Time Out Of Joint' by Philip K. Dick. The story of Ragle Gumm who makes a living by entering a newspaper contest every day, and winning every day. He begins to suspect that his world is an illusion, constructed around him to keep him docile and happy. So what is the real world like and what is he really doing every day when he thinks he is guessing 'Where will the little green man be next?'

Interesting, check out the film Man on the Moon with Jim Carrey in he plays Andy Kaufman who is very spiritual. Theres a scene where Andy (Jim Carrey) is teaching a tm meditation class and he is told he can't go on this trip and he says "I just think lifes an illusion and we shouldn't take it so seriously" couldn't agree more!

About Jim Carry being into creating your own reality etc, lol he stars in Bruce Almighty! lmao and he does just that he creates his own reality! Though when God (Morgan Freeman) tells him that he has to obey free will as he tries to win his girlfriend (jennifer aniston) back.

Man in the Moon is a great movie! Andy Kaufman was one of Jim Carrey's inspirations when he was just starting out in his career.
The most significant thing about The Village was the way the Elders keep thieir children prisoner in the illusion: fear!

what a brilliant performance carey gives in man in the moon. his best ever, imo.
to me, "the village" was also about how our own beliefs and the past can keep us imprisoned. the ill. arent' the only jailers!
