I just realized that Blair, like many of those like him is hoping to become "living God" , that is, a man who would reach apotheoses in order to sit on world's throne, and what can be better in his (their) mind(s) than become the head of Euro state that (they believe) will become the head of the World Government?!

That is, many of those like Blair are actually competing to become masonic man-god(s), with one and final "top dog" becoming that biblical Antichrist.
