strange flash and pop!

This is a strange post and I wasn't sure where to put it - my girlfriend and I were sitting in our lounge with the door ajar.......we just had a loud popping sound and a flash of light in the kitchen.....and there seems no logical answer to what it was....checked all appliances, gas etc - nothing, and no smell. Any ideas either logical or more speculative in nature?:confused:

Hi magicmerlin, it may be caused by static electricity. Is your place 'grounded' ? anyway, check this out
