With a variety of people from all walks of life. This forum is bound to have many different opinions on how they perceive reality. I started this thread for the opportunity to read and became more insightful on other members views on the subject. Please let's discuss. What is your take on The Nature Of Reality?

It is a very cleverly constructed Illusion this film explains it best and is based on the work of Physicist David Bohm and Neuroscientists Karl Pribram

Phew! Glad you said that Abrilliantone. The video was fantastic I thought, It really got my thinking cap on as at the moment I'm working hard on "re-wiring" my beliefs. But the religious part threw me right off of it. Though I didn't want to say anything about it. I'm glad someone else thought the same :).
Thank you for posting it sunyatta60 :)

Hmmm... I have seen this clip before, and after seeing it again, it does not seem all that bright. The fact that what we sense is electrical signals in our brain is something that ought to have been known for maybe 200 years or more. Just because our experiences are experienced as electrical signals in our brain, it is not real?
I can see the logic in the possibility of placing a brain in a jar and connecting it to a computer and it should be able to live a virtual reality, but all our senses agree and come to the same conclusions about our reality. "Our brain is dark inside, but we view images inside it in vivid color"... how insightfull, did they not already show that it was done with electrical impulses? would not seem logical that light shone inside our heads.
Dreams are a weak comparison to reality as well, since we in dreams usually do not have all our 5 senses, although we usually do not pay attention to it.
Other nice scientific facts about the brain though, is that we sometimes recieve the impulse in the brain that ought to tell our hand or leg to move too late... so that we move before our brain tells our body to. Seems we are connected to this reality with more than just our brain.

Reality is perception. It is subject to interpretation.

Crete is a popular tourist destination; its attractions include the Minoan sites of Knossos and Phaistos, the classical site of Gortys, the Venetian castle at Rethymno, and the Samaria Gorge, as well as many other natural sites, monuments, and beaches.
Crete was the centre of the Minoan civilization (ca. 2600–1400 BCE), the oldest civilization in Europe.

[edit] Minoan Era
Crete was the centre of Europe's most ancient civilization ; the Minoan, often referred to as the 'cradle' of European civilization. Little is known about the rise of ancient Cretan society, as very limited written records remain, and many are written in the undeciphered script known as Linear A. This contrasts with the superb palaces, houses, roads, paintings and sculptures that do remain. Though early Cretan history is replete with legends such as those of King Minos; Theseus and the Minotaur; and Daedalus and Icarus passed on via Greek historians and poets such as Homer, it is known that the first human settlement in Crete, dating to the aceramic Neolithic, introduced cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, and dogs, as well as domesticated cereals and legumes.
[edit] Roman Era
Further information: Roman Greece
In Ancient Roman times, Crete was involved in the Mithridatic Wars, as Rome suspected inhabitants of backing Mithridates VI of Pontus. Marcus Antonius Creticus attacked Crete in 71 BC and was repelled ; Rome then sent Quintus Caecilius Metellus with three legions to the island. After a ferocious three-year campaign, Crete was conquered for Rome in 69 BC, earning for Metellus the agnomen "Creticus". As a result, Gortyn was made capital of the island, at times together with the province of Cyrenaica.
[edit] Byzantine and Ottoman Era
Further information: Byzantine Greece and Ottoman Greece
Crete continued to be part of the Eastern Roman or Byzantine empire, a quiet cultural backwater, until it fell into the hands of Arabs (see Al-Hakam I) in 824, who established an emirate on the island. In 960 Nicephorus Phocas reconquered Crete for the Byzantines, who held it until 1204, when it fell into the hands of the Venetians at the time of the Fourth Crusade. The Venetians retained the island until 1669, when the Ottoman Turks took possession.
In the partition of the Byzantine empire after the capture of Constantinople by the armies of the Fourth Crusade in 1204, Crete was eventually acquired by Venice, which held it for more than four centuries. During Venice's rule, the Greek population of Crete, most famously El Greco, were exposed to Renaissance culture. During the 17th century, Venice was pushed from Crete by the Ottoman Empire, with most of the island lost after the siege of Candia (1648–1669) ; this made up possibly the longest recorded siege in history.

I'm still trying to figure out the nature of reality, or the nature of the world.
I'm convinced that right now anything is possible. Our universe, our reality may be an illusion, sort of like the matrix. It can also be that what we are taught in school might also be true: we are humans, living in a universe, the was created by the big bang. Alternatively we may have been put here by some God or gods to do their bidding or as a test, etc. However we may also be our own God, ie. your perception of the world and reality is made by your brain or your soul or whatever, in other words we are the masters of our reality and can do whatever we want.
Like I said: anything is possible! I think the best way to do things, is to just enjoy yourself or enjoy this world, in the end what is gonna happen? No one knows, there might be a heaven and hell, there might be nothing, you might be reborn, you might .... x.
Bottom line: there are infinite possibilities to what the nature of reality can be.
