Human evolution speeding up: study

AFP - Tuesday, December 11 05:19 am
CHICAGO (AFP) - The world may feel more and more like a global village, but its residents are increasingly genetically diverse thanks to the rapidly accelerating pace of human evolution, a study said Monday.

Geneticists say the huge explosion in our numbers in the past 40,000 years, since Homo sapiens migrated out of Africa to other continents, has resulted in a much faster pace of evolution compared to the previous six million years.

The pace of change has increased 100-fold in modern times compared to our distant past, and most notably since the Ice Age, 10,000 years ago, and has led to increasing diversification between the races.

"We are more different genetically from people living 5,000 years ago than they were different from Neanderthals," said John Hawks, an anthropologist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison who collaborated on the study.

The findings are based on analysis of data from an international genomics project. A team of scientists examined DNA from 270 individuals in four ethnically different populations to see how genetic variations or SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) evolved over time.

Contrary to conventional wisdom, which holds that human evolution has slowed to a crawl or even stopped in modern humans, the researchers' analysis suggested that the process of natural selection has sped up.

"Rapid population growth has been coupled with vast changes in cultures and ecology, creating new opportunities for adaptation," the authors wrote in the paper in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

"The past 10,000 years have seen rapid skeletal and dental evolution in human populations, as well as the appearance of many new genetic responses to diet and disease."

Human migrations into new European and Asian environments created selective pressures favoring less skin pigmentation (so more sunlight could be absorbed through the skin to make Vitamin D), adaptation to cold weather and dietary changes.

One example of a genetic adaptation to human culture involves the gene that makes the milk-digesting enzyme lactase.

The gene normally stops activity about the time a person becomes a teenager, but northern Europeans developed a variation of the gene that allowed them to drink milk their whole lives -- a relatively new adaptation that is directly tied to the introduction of domestic farming and use of milk as an agricultural product.

"Human races are evolving away from each other," said Henry Harpending, an anthropology professor at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

"Genes are evolving fast in Europe, Asia and Africa, but almost all of these are unique to their continent of origin. We are getting less alike, not merging into a single, mixed humanity."

He said that is happening because humans dispersed from Africa to other regions 40,000 years ago and "there has not been much flow of genes between the regions since then."

What about the missing link between neandertals and homo sapiens? Or was the missing link before them?

Seems to me that it has been known a long time that all humans found after the neandertals was very different, from them.

Sounds more like results from deliberate interventions to me. If someone is exposed to radiation and they have no arms is that evolution? Don't believe a word of it.

more on sacred geometry and life:

heres info I found from Dan Winter at

http://www.goldenmean.info/implosionmovies/

He talks about/synergizes dodecahedron, golden mean ratio [phi, 24 repeating whole #s in cast-out nines fibonacci], e8 theory [hes got EE background] and talks about electric nature of soul, mentions research by other scientists in GDV, also mentions Annunaki and other things from the ancient world, he feels relate relevantly to the shamanic reality of what memory and specif. after death is like and also soul 'hygiene' relating to what types of buildings and environments we live and work in.

a bit eccentric he keeps mentioning non-destructive compression a lot, maybe theres something to it...dont know but its very interesting. However he stresses the pentagon is what allows for this non destructive compression if you read more...anyway, just putting it out there. Ive still got more to read, its a large site.

actually Im reading this now:

http://www.danwinter.com/HeartTunerStatements.html

about his legal battles w/meru foundation, saying hes a con man. Truth be told its confusing for me, whos telling truth anymore. So now I'm not as sure on what hes saying, though obviously theres a coherence and purpose to life and natural systems. Yet meru is all about how "totally great" hebrew letters are, to me its just another language.

Have to do more reading obviously. Currently am reading James churchward's book about Mu though, which is interesting also.

But what if the change was deliberate and concious, instead of just random radiation?

I surely hope it's speeding up.

The theory of evolution is a load of bull in my opinion, same with religion. It may have some tiny portions of truth mixed in there(like micro evolution), but in the end, it's a big fat lie.The religious and the atheists keep fighting each other in a heated battle and no one gets to know about the middle grounds.

I think they simply took some of the early humanoid ape species' bones and footprints, laid them all next to each other and then drew their conclusions : "If it walked on two legs and looked humanoid-esque, it has to be an early human. That explains everything! Oh, what's that? A bunch of out of place artifacts, perfectly cut stones weighing up to a thousand tons, depicted aliens and ufo's?..Umm, well they are not relevant to us, let's get back to that punctuated equilibrium thingy."

I believe evolution has been proven to some extent, just not fully. There is alot more to it and too many factors in it that arent taken into account.

I also believe it is somewhere in between the belief of atheism and religion.

I think evolution is true to an extent, but where the "missing link" is concerned, evolution (according to mainstream scientists) is completely wrong.

I believe the earth is a living organism and we are a part of it. And the sun's various energy patterns over the thousands of years comes into play with how things seem to speed up in stages.

The double helix appears everywhere organically. People like David Wilcock believe there is a field that pushes DNA and uploads new codes, resulting in spontaneous species appearing. There are new species being discovered still today!

And if you look at the Mayan Calendar (see Ian Lungold for a great presentation of this information), you'll see that time is speeding up, and the various "days" result in MAJOR "upgrades."

It's all about CYCLES. The Earth is alive and growing. DNA and genes are not fixed by far. We are only now beginning to fathom these concepts and realities. It's an exciting time to be alive!!!!

Evolution is a hoax.

The Perfect All Knowing One exists within you. Realize this.

I reckon Darwinian Evolution is largely a hoax. But there appears to be time frames where huge changes occur very rapidly. Species suddenly die out or a whole new species suddenly appears dominant. Part of the Ascension idea this.
