Yet again the U.K labour government are discussing the possibility of passing another stupid law. Whoever even thought of this idea needs shooting, as it has to be one of the craziest ideas the blair government has come up with. I am talking here about the government's plans to give the already corrupt bailiff companies in this country new powers to break into your house while you are out and take all your belongings. A large proportion of these companies are run by criminals, there are lots of horror stories concerning these scumbag companies from them using intimiditing and threatening behaviour including violence, and making false claims and threats, to charging people ridiculous amounts of money for phantom visits, to actual theft of property by not declaring some of the items they have seized.
I find it very alarming to say the least, if this law is passed it will be legalised burgulary.

Do you have a news link for this? How about setting up a petition on the Gov website?

Excellent Jeff, come on everyone in the U.K on this board needs to sign this. If you allow this law to be passed by not doing anything to stop it, then your sending a clear message to this developing police state, blair/labour government. They are trying to pass laws like this at an alarming rate, and before you know it you really will be living in an orwelian state, and by then it will be too late to protest.
Lets show these muppets that we are awake, and we are not going to stand for this nonsense. Anyone joined up to any other conspiracy sites or other forums can you please post the links and explain what allowing this law to be passed could mean for them. And just in case anyone thinks it won't effect them because they are financially secure, bailiffs have been known to get details wrong on many occasions and target the wrong people, so you could end up having your home broke into and your goods taken away simply because of a case of mistaken identity. THINK ABOUT IT. HOW DOES THE FUTURE LOOK. YOU CAN HELP TO CHANGE THE FUTURE FOR THE BETTER, BUT YOU CAN ONLY DO IT BY BEING ACTIVE. SO SPREAD THE WORD.

The petition was rejected. The other two are still active but what happens with those remains to be seen.
Bailiffs - epetition reply
21 June 2007
We received a petition asking:
"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Amend the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Bill."
Details of Petition:
"We call upon the government to amend the Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Bill, to remove the provision for Bailiffs to force entry to a persons property and the Custodial Offence of obstructing a Bailiff."
* Read the petition
* Petitions home page
Read the Government's response
The Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Bill which is currently before the House of Commons will introduce, in strictly controlled circumstances, a new power allowing bailiffs to force entry for the purpose of enforcing civil judgments. The purpose is to ensure that debtors cannot evade payment just by refusing entry to enforcement agents, thereby refusing justice to the judgment creditor. This will only be allowed with prior judicial authority and as a means of last resort after the judge has considered the case individually and on its merits. The conditions to be satisfied in order for a judge to authorise forced entry will be set out in regulations to be made by the Lord Chancellor, on which the Government will consult before laying. The criteria will include:
* that other relevant methods of enforcement have failed;
* the property is inhabited by the debtor;
* normal entry attempts have been unsuccessful;
* there is reason to believe there are suitable goods on the premises to satisfy the debt (and evidence to support that belief);
* the enforcement agent has considered the likely means required to gain entry; and
* the enforcement agent will leave the property in a secure state.
The power will be made available for domestic premises, but only once all non Crown-employed bailiffs are licensed by an independent regulator. The Ministry of Justice together with the Home Office is currently assessing the responses to a recent consultation exercise on this matter.
Removing the provision would, in effect, reward non-co-operation and damage the ability of judgment creditors to exercise their rights.
Similarly, removal from the Bill of the custodial offence of intentionally obstructing a bailiff would result in a debtor being able to deny justice to a judgment creditor. It is not right that a debtor should be able to avoid his or her responsibilities by deliberately obstructing an enforcement agent in the course of their lawful duties. Therefore, the Bill will make it an offence for any person who intentionally obstructs an enforcement agent. A person who is guilty of such an offence will be liable on summary conviction to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 51 weeks or a fine not exceeding £2500, or both. This provision unifies the current disparate powers and remedies available against debtors who intentionally obstruct enforcement agents in the course of their duties into one single offence applicable to all.

why do you still do pertitions, they never worked with road pricing and loads of us signed it, they dont care, its there hit list of people who might cause a fuss, its there market research. if you want to stop it dont get in debt or stab the next baliff that comes round ur house (they might change the law if there were no balifs left to enforce the banks will! or move abroad.
I knew there was an answer out there somewhere. Thank you. It's like doing exercise, something is better than nothing. Do nothing and you can't complain about how bad things are. The same thinking can be applied to CCTV cameras all over the place. Well what's wrong with them if you are doing nothing wrong?. Saying don't get into debt in the first place is taking a very simplistic view imho.
This is not about the law as such but how the law can be abused and applied incorrectly. In other words this is just another avenue where the lawmakers are further eroding civil liberties and privacy.

obviously its not hard to get into debt but it dosnt have to lead to baliffs,
my understanding is you go to county court explain ur situation and they will arange a manageable payment option or if you have the assest have them siezed or tell your creditors you cant because you have no funds/ assets, so if youve got assets sell them or have them taken by baliffs. just ignore me im on one today im sleep deprived.

damm right mate,
if we could overhaul the political or monetry system things could be sweet for all of us.
can you imagine if just these were changed...
freedom of speech and expression to be restored
obolish all taxes but leave a (single/simple) reasonable income tax. (sliding scale)
cheaper house prices by encouraging new builds (relax planning permission temp)
abolish intrest payments of any kind.
make the banks part of the new government and later add public services like rail and power stations/ telecoms ect they should all be non profit organisations owned by us the people.
sustainable housing and a real look at renewable fuels like hydrogen (including zero point energy etc)
removal of all CCTV camera in public areas and dismantl this HARRP thing and put limits on RF frequency (lets have some sunshine!).
removal of all non natural additives to food, if its not from a plant or annimal it shouldnt be in there. also longterm research into food additives and packaging. removal of flourid from water systems, water should not be chlorinated either everyone should get UV filters in there home (pending tests)

you know what mate?
i often think "well, what are the real alternatives?" and it's hard to think of ones that people would accept and not ridicule as "impossible"......
...and you just made so much fucking sense mate!! thank you!! :D
