Tatanka is a Lakota word that literally means “bull buffalo"....

Sasquatch is actually a white man's attempt at the word 'Sesqec' (pronounced Ses-Kw-Etch) -

A Salish word! I am a Salish descendant! So I always brag about being descended from the tribe that originated the name Sasquatch :D

It just means wild men of the mountains.

I feel genetically predisposed to Bigfeet, totally, and was having dreams about them as a child since before I knew they existed pretty much. I wonder how much of that is due to my ancestry. Anyway... to be so predisposed to them and one day find out that the name 'Sasquatch' came from 'my people' so to speak was amazing.

Good thread!

Salish Indian
"Sasquatch"
"Wild Man of the Woods"

Oops, you already had it...

That's my peoples!

Skanicum
Colville Indians
"Stick Indians"

I believe Skanicum is also used in Washington tribes to signify humans who are Sasquatch / Human hybrids!

Skanicum are the result of Bigfeet kidnapping women and breeding with them. They are indian people who don't look quite right.

The most famous 'Skanicum' in history was actually a Russian man named 'Kwit' who was born of a wild-woman (Bigfoot) captured in a Russian village, her name was Zana. This is a very famous account - more can be read in this thread (http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showpost.php?p=855048&postcount=12).

Known as 'Khwit' he was the great grandchild (could be wrong) of Zana and was very tall, incredibly strong, and 'quick to fight'.
