I was thinking.
When trying for a baby there are always millions of sperm but only one egg.
What if the same is in the spirit world? what if there are millions of souls but only one Human to inhabit? All these souls are desperate for physicality and the comfort it brings.
What if we were one of the lucky ones and got to the Human baby first and incarnated?
What if the otherside is not a very nice place to be and Earth/physicality is a vacation from the cold dark abyss?
Maybe people who are so eager beaver to escape this Earthly realm should stop to contemplate this possibility. No matter how hard it may get here on Earth, no matter how sad you may get here on Earth maybe it doesn't compare to the hell and torment in the afterlife and we should savour what we have right here and now. :p

Interesting idea.
Sounds a bit like the premise of the Nights Dawn trilogy be Peter F Hamlton.

That is very interesting but some of your threads seem to be about making people scared of the after life. :(

Hahaha! lol. Well, really I think this is only the second one I've started about the afterlife and they're not intended to scare.
The first thread I created actually never said anyone should be afraid of the afterlife, I just said that people should think first before going off into the light straight away. No point rushing into things!
This thread is more along the lines of don't get tired of life because you don't really know if what is after is any better. It's a sort of thread that's saying you should savour life whilst you have it.
There is no point in pretending the afterlife is going to be all rosey because we don't know but there's also no point in being afraid of something we have yet to experience.

This is very possible. In Crowleys novel, Moonchild, they try to incarnate a certain type of personality by sex and at a certain point in the gestation an array of souls present themselves with the hope of being reborn.
As for being a safe haven, maybe it is more to do with karmic effects. Perhaps people have to work off negative actions on the plane where they were created. Some people also believe that the supreme spiritual accomplishement is to manifest the spirit of god on earth and that is what humanities end goal is.

Perhaps they should be?!!? why should it be seen as some lovely place when in truth people are going to see the depths of what inhabits their own being, all those repressed fear and desires, etc. given form. The afterlife should not be considered any better than the world itself as both are reflections of the individuals consciousness

Perhaps it is because you fail to appreciate the true value and meaning of life?

Yes I agree with that. We can't know for certain what to expect so we shouldn't waste our lives here when, for all we know, the "afterlife" could be much worse. That's if there is one at all.
We could have been in limbo before incarnating here and this life could be the END!

It is thought that a person can not actually achieve spiritual advancement while discarnate, which is why they have to come back. My thinking is that while in your body you create various life conditions and when you die you lack the mechanishm to make any changes, the subtle body taking its direction and attachments from the physical. When a person has overcome their physical bondage then the subtle body is not bound by that baggage and can rise. It is more complex than that but this is an overview
To the buddhists to be born into the human realm is an enormous boon.

It's the opposite. There are more souls than there are humans, so the majority of humans are possessed by an incarnation of the planetary spirit instead. In other words, most humans are reincarnated animals, rather than something higher.

The human population is constantly growing and if we factor in reincarnation, where have all the new souls come from? Which means that either a new soul is created when a baby is born or neutrino's theory could be true. It makes sense that all the souls compete to be incarnated.
Obviously we'll never know the truth but it's interesting nonetheless.

Maybe they have been waiting in limbo until a critical moment in time occurs when they can incarnate and move forward.
There could be infinite souls out there but there are not infinite bodies to house so many, so an increase in the birth rate could easily be catered for

Jeez, you don't have to take your thought's THAT personally.
I mean, afterlife is a lifechanger.

I have recovered the memories of more than 120 past life memories, which include in-between lives memories. I have also interviewed many other people who have undertaken extensive past life therapy. So perhaps I can shed some light on the subject.
Anyone can contact a past life memory. It is really not as difficult as some would think. The idea that we have lived before demonstrates that we are indeed spiritual beings. A past life is just that--a life in a body.
The key to unlock the mystery lies in the in-between lives area. This has been misunderstood by many people. There is a reason for that. The ETs that are manipulating the human beings on this planet do not want you to know about it.
I am currently helping people learn non-hypnotic memory retrieval techniques that are much safer and more reliable than hypnotism. There is no charge for this. In this way people can find out firsthand what is going on and discover who they are. This is a spiritual healing process. It's too much to write about here, but you can find out more about it at www.MatrixRevealed.com.
