I get to have japanese food for dinner. I'm quite happy about that. Wish they had my more authentic dishes though. sweet bean pastries are really yummy and they need to sell them.

Probably not but I guess it won't hurt to try.
Sometimes, like last night for example, I get caught up in situations which definitely don't "feel" like a dream... for me, normal dreams definitely feel different... these separate instances aren't lucid either, but they feel like I'm on the astral plane. When I wake up I feel like I'm coming back from a totally different place.
Is there any way to know if I dreamt or was in the astral?

when you're flying, when everything feels like in real life, when you can taste, when you can smell, when you have feelings, when you touch things and actually can feel em' like in real life and sometimes you KNOW that this is NO dream at all etc. etc.
i usually don't dream allot...too busy in the astral plane.
