In the Talmud it is written that the divine name of 42 letters is the greatest of the mysteries. These 42 letters contain the names of the ten Sephiroth.

i had a really strange dream last night and i kept chasing someone in the woods and every time i would come close to them i would see the words Forty-two spelt out like that not in number form. then i look on the forum and i find this post. the universe is trying to tell me something for sure.

The number 42 - in Chaldean Numerology - delineates to a 6, which is the number of harmony, community and balance. The 4 suggests a solid foundation, and the 2 suggests that this foundation is built upon alliance and partnership.

When all else collapses in a society (monetary system, law and order, infrastructure, communication) the one constant that will always remain, and allow people to survive and rebuild, is the human alliance as the building block for recovery. This truth is what the number 42 represents.

42/6 is my own Numerological Name (Destiny) Number, and this is why I know so much about it. I never knew it was special. It corresponds directly to the 2 of Cups tarot card, and I've always appreciated that. I guess I need to find out what's been written in the past about the number 42.

Even so, when you look at that the description above suggests, it's not hard to see why the ancients would have appreciated it as a number. It stands for what it means to be human in an inhuman world.
