David seems to like to talk about The Matrix a lot. The year before that movie came out there was another really cool movie called Dark City (by Alex Proyas). I was blown away by how cool that movie was.
Humans only have knowledge of the dark city they live in, they remember going outside the city, but it seems to have been a while. The outside is not a part of their immediate reality. Every day at midnight EVERYONE falls asleep and these creepy tall figures appear out of nowhere, they come through walls. They can do this cause they can manipulate the reality of the city. And they do it ALL THE TIME. Today you live in a small house, tomorrow that might have grown into an apartment complex. Maybe you'll be a gay priest instead of a married lawyer. The experiences change all the time. Until something happens...
I totally recommend this movie if you like The Matrix or tech noir/SF movies.
