"$50 fine and/or up to 10 days in jail" seems better than getting the shots to me.

Me too.

Yeah but by the sounds of it, that was just if they didnt appear in court. I think they will do whatever they have to to make sure they get vaccinated, force if necesssary. But that is just my opinion :)

This just seems to me like lazy parents that haven't done anything about their children's vaccinations, maybe this is why the school is acting. All a parent needs to do is fill out a vaccine exemption form and the problem would be solved, correct me if I'm wrong.

They can apply for exemption on certain grounds such as religion. That
is no guarantee it will be approved.

Ok, it's different here in Australia. I just went to the doctor, told him I wanted an exemption form and he gave me one, no need to justify myself on religious grounds.

It's not an "OR" jail option

^ Yeah, but it's "up to 10 days in jail." I take that to mean they could just be fined. :)

But what about the kids ? Are they gonna be forced to be vaccinated ? I know that there is religious exemption but that wont apply to most people.

I just watched it again, eight hundred families that aren't up to date with their shots since the government made hep b and chinken pox manditory. The reporter at the end said there are exemptions available. It seems to me here you just have parents that aren't up to date with all their shots and the school has decided to take action.
I don't vaccinate my children, but I also went through the right channels to make sure I wouldn't have any problems. I think it's wrong to become hysterical about stories like this, it's obvious these children have already been vaccinated otherwise they wouldn't have been at school at all in the first place, these parents aren't conciencous objectors, just slack.

I don't know. If they can't get an exemption they would have to move out of the state to avoid the shots I guess.

Ok, I just had a look at the exemptions for Maryland and you can only object for religous and medical reasons, other states you can object on philisophical grounds.

Yeah, I'd probally do the same. There must be other ways around it though?

I suppose one could join a religion that does not allow such things.

Why an exemtion form?

It seems to me that it should be as straight forward as - no thanks.

I'm assuming they have to have an exemption FORM has a record to say "Hey-you're baby didn't get the vax" if some sort of "outbreak" occurs. Blame game I suppose.

I'm pondering sending my daughter to preschool in 18 months instead of daycare twice a week (it's hard to 'get by' w/ one source of income so I work part time). But anyways, I have been turned down by FOUR in my area b/c my daughter is on an "alternative schedule" for her vax. The reason at two of them was b/c the other parents were scared my daughter would give them the disease, she was a "health risk".

Definately gave them a piece of my mind

Have you thought about home schooling, I heard on the alex jones show that there are about 7 million americans who home school their children.

If the other parents are afraid of your child giving them the disease ask them why they bothered vaccinating their children in the first place if they don't have any immunity..?

Yes I have, of course. There's alot of hurdles and it takes alot of time (why can't anything be so simple?!), but I am working on it.

But what I was referring to was the fact that somebody else has to be with her for a few hours twice a week and was pondering the thought of transferring her to a preschool like program instead of the daycare shes at now. I would love for it to be just family that would take care of her during those times, but we're kinda scattered many miles apart at the moment, so that's not an option.

A state prosecutor involved in bringing potential criminal charges against
hundreds of parents in a county just outside Washington D.C. for failing to allow
their children to be vaccinated admitted yesterday on a national radio show that
there is no law that mandates any vaccine, despite a Fox News report falsely
claiming otherwise.

Thanks Graflok, I was thinking yesterday about what part Fox News playing in this, are they trying to frighten people into giving their kids jabs by threathening them with jail ? The answer was clearly "yes". If Fox had told the truth, then people would have just given the schools and courts the finger, and would have had no jabs.

Fox are lying , fear mongererers .

Yeah, of course there is no law for this.

I love the wording:
"for failing to allow" - wtf is that supposed to mean anyway lol
A 'nice' way of saying Forcing or Mindlessly Obeying, I guess...

But why pass a law when you can just blatantly scare people into doing something... unfortunately that's the way it has worked in this crazy country (err.. corporation) for years and years and years.

And the media are just the little pawns to get it done.

Tune in to Faux News at Six for more Fear, Death, Destruction, Hate, Racism, Sex, and Violence. And we're on again at Eleven if you happen to miss us during supper.

So if you take the shots and get horrible side-effects can you sue the pharmaceutical company?

NO !!

They are exempt, above the law. You take vaccinations at your own risk, that's why forced vaccinations are truly sickening...

They can fuck right off if they try and introduce this in the UK. Pitchforks at the ready.

At the courthouse, the health department will have a makeshift clinic to administer vaccines. Parents will be given the chance to offer the judge an excuse for why they didn’t get their kids vaccinated. Under Maryland law, parents can obtain exemptions for religious or medical reasons.

Those who fail to show up — and those who fail to offer a valid excuse and still refuse the shots — could be prosecuted under truancy laws and face possible jail time and fines of $50 per day. Prosecutors do not expect to actually charge anyone on Saturday.
