I believe that Doppelmayr T-Bar was installed in 1957. The resort closed down in 1984.

My Baby hasn't moved in 26 years, until now. (I've adopted the Beast). :D

I'm also retrofitting a tractor engine on a 1960-ish Poma "Detatchable Platter Lift" on the southern side of the hill. (Both these lifts were electric, now they're gas). :cool:

I have a hundred hobbies,..... torturing Cryptozoologists is only one of them. :rolleyes:

This was my Poma Lift in it's glory,..... back in the seventies. (You can't see it, anymore..... the trees are too high, they completely engulf it).

How many people here know anyone close to them that has died and came back to life?
I do, two people in my family. And its not even remembered it was just darkness to them and then they came back and they had to be told that they had died. But it was just like waking back up after it going black to them. But go ahead, make jokes senselessly about things like this by starting a thread here about returning from death when you're really talking about a machine.

My Wife had an out-of-body experience during surgery. She almost died.

Aside from that,..... the majority of the individuals who frequent this part of the forum know who I am and know my sense-of-humor and my affection for amusing myself. I thought I'd show another piece of my IRL character and show one of my latest achievements.... to anyone who might care.

YOU , on the other hand..... just waltz in and start calling everybody names and cutting everybody down as if you were a belligerent drunkard at the bottom of a fifth of rum?

Such negative attitudes and tones are unpalatable and unwanted in a social setting such as this.

Just rip on ME , and not just everybody in general, okay? And try to have a sense-of-humor about it, Eh?

I know your since of humor and laugh because of it most the time but you dive into things that are sensitive to other people at will without a thought other than that you're being funny. Don't act a certain way if you don't want treat a certain way, that is how I am with everyone. I'm not a rum drinking drunk. I used to be a whiskey drinking drunk. I'm from a different walk of life than you. But somehow you can be sarcastic about everything and I can't be? Thats real neat... Examples- Instead of when I say you should get your head out of your butt you shouldn't take offense to it being said to you but wonder what you did to make me say that. You're not allowed to get offended when you offended, you can't get mad at someone you made mad for them being mad at you because you mad them mad etc. Thats how it is, Lol. Lets just leave that stuff where it fell though.

Anyways My cousin on the first of this month, just a few weeks ago did die and they where able to bring him back but he's in stage 4 of a rare cancer that's in his brain so it's very unclear how it will go though its treatable to a certain extent.

My Grandma has died twice due to heart failure as well and she's fine now.

Now none of that is remembered to them. Maybe because they did die, and didn't almost die. That's probably the catch on how you say your wife almost died and had an outer body experience.

Keep in mind,... this is an internet chat forum: socially personal but not intimately familiar..... there are ALWAYS going to be topics of discussion that one person might take offense to,... inadvertantly. If these are MEANT to offend, you'll surely know it. MOTIVE is what you should pay particullar attention to, if you're to be offended by anything,... by anyone. (Not just you,..... that applies to EVERYONE who joins ANY chat forum).

..... This thread was not intended to poke fun at life-after-death experiences, ... I believe that to take offense at what I've done here, is just making a mountain out of a molehill.

Wondered why you still stay around here. Anyways I say fuck, a lot and if thats taken as being aggressive it's not meant to be but when someone gets aggressive towards me because of little things like that I tend to go a long with it, Lol. Anyways, I was just saying i'm astounded people still on the net don't know the full story of the Gable Films, chatting up my youtube comments pages, even though you gave them the opportunity on here to get an idea on how you are for months, before the show even aired. So they try to banter with me about it, being rude not even knowing what they are talking about because they must not have even looked into it. So I called them fucktards, of course. Something is wrong with people I let them know it, sometimes I'm amused by it but its hard to tell I guess when I say " The F word" regularly Lol. I figured I'd check here to see if you where still pulling on their chains confusing them or something as well. Then when I got on this site I saw the title of the topic on this page and that you started it. And I was like what the fuck ¿... Anyways it seems like everyone asks questions that answers have been given to over and over again, but they must not have the brain power enough to just go look up the answer and reasons why. They want me to answer a moronic question and explain in detail on it all, when they can just look it up if its such a concern. So those probably 100 people on youtube whom seem to be able to write a comment but not use the net to their advantage in any other ways to learn is whom I was getting at. They think they have some extra knowledge on subjects like this because they've sat watching things like MQ or something. Never have really dove into it realistically only in their little alternate reality.

In your video on here getting that thing going you looked like you gained some weight since the mq show and I wasn't trying to point that out in a negative way I just was like wow. Noticing how time flies. Its been a little over a year now since then and your appearance has changed a little since then. Got me wondering what you've been up to thats all, so I said wtf.

Then when you came back with saying something about how I came off, and doesn't matter what side i'm on. I thought wtf to that too and started laughing since you took offence easy to really nothing at all so I decided to clue you in to how easily someone could take offence to you, the topic you posted in the area you posted it because of how it could be misconstrued as being offense to someone, especially someone like me who has had Loved ones come back from Death and it was just really about starting up a machine Lol. I'm not trying to be right I'm not trying to wrong about anything.

I'll explain the best I can...Its like say I'm a Train, since you like machines. A train is set into grooves, it goes rolling along. It may be loud but it's not proud. If someone gets stuck on its tracks or not it still keeps rolling along, it's not right, it isn't wrong. Lol.

Okay, just a final attempt to clarify.....

I'm not entirely opposed to the F-Bomb, I say Fuck once in a while, myself.....but typically, when someone is being sarcastic in a funny way then they will lay on the "smilies" to accentuate the humor of the comment.

On the other hand, no smilies would indicate that the person is being serious and when you call everyone a "Fucking Fucktard" and shit like that, it can very easily be taken as rude, aggressive and confrontational. :eek:

(I wish we could get an expanded menu of emoticons). :(

And, no... I haven't gained weight. That's kinda a loose fitting shirt, and my face looks alot bigger when I wear a Pony Tail and a Doo-Rag. I'm 5'9" and 176 pounds..... same as I've been since the mid-nineties. I was 150 pounds and 4-percent "body fat" from High School until I was in my mid-twenties. Then I went through "The Transformation". (Most men experience this). I haven't been tested lately, but I'm probably close to "normal" body mass, now..... 12 percent body fat. (4-percent was way low... and would explain why I used to sink like a rock in a swimming pool). :rolleyes:

I started working on these ski lifts when I lived in town, ten years ago. But I sold my house and built a new one about 12 miles out of town. I lived only about a mile from the site, so It was easy for me to just waltz over and play with my toys.... but when I moved, all work stopped and the lifts sat dormant again until two years ago when I stopped and visited my buddy. I went walking around the hills and got "The Bug" again after inspecting the little "Poma" lift. So NOW ,.... I'm nearly finished with the re-engineering, and I'll most likely be snowboarding this year on my own private hill.

.....(I'm so excited)!!! :D

And so is my Buddy who owns the property. These lifts haven't moved since 1984. I get such a rush of pride and a feeling of accomplishment whenever I rebuild or restore a non-functional antique snowmobile and plow it through a foot of fresh powder......... seeing these big bullwheels turn and watching the carriages go by, sends my pulse racing and I just want a blizzard to bury Northern Michigan so I can plunge down these hills like a maniac!!! :)

I have too many hobbies.....but damnit, I love them all. :p

Hey Shankers. I haven't lost anyone yet, somehow they manage to come back. It's still a wait and see if it gets better or worse for my cousin however. Right now he seems to be improving enough for visitors so I'm going to try and make it up there to see him this week.

And I haven't been on forums talking in a while so don't be surprised I don't add in my laughs or some emoticon smiley things right off and I'm really not into those much either. I'll just say (sarcasm) or put " Lol ".

I think I figured out why everyone was blasting off to me about the Gable Films yet again, Because it's close to Halloween again. Maybe I'll have to deal with that for the rest of my life now, every year...around Halloween. Lol, Thanks Mike.

I don't get into things like fixing up machines for a hobby or snowboarding, I just hunt and fish. Mainly just deer hunting that gives me a rush. Do you hunt up there in Michigan?

I have a special set of cross-hairs mounted onto the hood of my truck. ;)

I don't have the time to hunt, but Dogboy is getting into it. He tried it out, last year. He borrowed a 16 Gauge from my buddy with the ski-lodge and hunted on the backside of the hill. This year I'll be buying a deer rifle that he can hunt with. My wife and oldest son refuse to eat venison, so I never really felt the need to bring home a deer. (I've only gone out deer hunting once..... but I used to fish alot, when I was younger).

Like I always say,..... "It ain't murder, if the victim comes with mashed potatoes". :D

16 gauge is a pretty powerful gun, though only know people to get deer with 12 and 20. Lol. My Uncle used a bolt action 16...always missed. But the Sound was always astounding lol. I use a 20 gauge. Last Year I let my cousin use my all powerful youth model fully rifled barrel 20 gauge Model 870 Remington... Using Lightfield High bread Sabot rounds,The only gun and ammo that will connect with a deer even if using only a low powered scope or just iron sights, if you've been hunting for years or just starting out it works best, always. I let him use it to give him a sure shot at getting a deer last season. I don't just use a youth model cuz i'm small. I out grew the gun years ago though I am small, but not 4ft tall. Lol but Northern Indiana weather gets pretty cold with the Michigan Lake effect winds during winter, so with all the layers of close I end up wearing, the gun then fits right up to my shoulder Lol. I can't use a rifle in this state unless it uses a pistol cartridge within a specific length. But If I ever hunt in a state that allows high powered rifles I'd probably get a .308. The kick isn't as bad as a 30-06 cartridge, they both out to about 200 yards make the same groups, but further as far as around 1,000 yrds is when a .308 shows superior accuracy. And I'm all about accuracy for a clean kill.

My mom don't eat venison but to me thats just foolish. Me and My dad have tricked her into eating it a few times by just saying it was steak...didn't specify that it was deer or bovine Lol. Venison doesn't have any fat in it either, so its pretty healthy. But you do need some fats in your diet. Deer Jerky Processed by a good butcher is the best Jerky in the world.

Going hunting has more to it than just getting a deer anyways, so thats pretty good knowing you'll be getting a deer rifle. Especially if your kid shows interest in it and you support it too. It's fun even if you don't get anything. It isn't what it's really about so getting a deer just seems to be a bonus. Doing that with someone else, and sharing the experience, or the day of it, is worth it and makes good memories.

Yeah,..... THIS 16 gauge is bolt-action, too. I told my kid that a split-finger fastball would probably have a better effect when it hits a Deer. This gun doesn't even have a rifled barrel. I don't feel safe shooting slugs out of a shotgun barrel. They're made for bird/buckshot,..... not a huge clump of lead. But yeah,..... a guy at work is going to sell me his last SKS,... he used to have a bunch of them. I love these vintage military rifles..... I was hopng to find an old Mauser,..... but I'll settle for the Sks. (That'll take down a deer just fine).

My Wife can't be fooled into eating Venison. It's been attempted too many times, she just KNOWS exactly what it tastes like, no matter how it's prepared.

The Grandfather of "Dogboy's" best buddy processes venison,... and I agree..... Venison Jerky is without comparison to anything else in the world.

Just awesome. :p

Yea an SKS is a good cheap gun that maintains some accuracy. I used one to shoot around with and to hunt coyote's. I'd use one to hunt deer out of state but would put a scope on it. The barrel on those tend to jump a little hight if you're shooting more than once. It will throw your aim off. Though it really doesn't have a kick thats outstanding. A kid could use it but to re-aim after every shot annoys me.
