About a year ago i was out for my usual morning run and decided to head up to a wooded area. Which has a tower before the woods entrance.

As in was heading up towards the entrance i noticed a strange animal which i first thought was a deer. After, getting closer i noticed it wasn't a deer. It was an animal I had never witnessed before. It was viscously tearing away at something. I assume a carcus. I can remember vividly the intense look on it's face as it ripped apart whatever it was devouring. I decided to run as fast as i could in the opposite direction. I was glad it never noticed me as well.

I would describe it as a powerfully built animal, tall and grey in colour. Very snarly as well.

Does anyone have any idea to what it may be?

Oh and needless to say i haven't ran that route again!

The Big Grey Man of Ben MacDhui or simply The Greyman) is the name of a presence or creature which is said to haunt the summit and passes of Ben Macdui, the highest peak of the Cairngorms and the second highest peak in Britain. It has been described as an extremely tall figure covered with short hair, or as an unseen presence that causes uneasy feelings in people who climb the mountain. Evidence of the existence of this creature is limited to various sightings and a few photographs of unusual footprints.

It was traditionally seen as a supernatural being, but Am Fear Liath Mòr has been compared to the Yeti of the Himalaya and the Sasquatch or Bigfoot of North America. References to wild 'Greymen' in Scotland and similar creatures elsewhere in Europe, sometimes called Wudewas or 'Wood Men', date back to the 13th century, and are believed by some to represent relict hominids.

I love that particular bit of Scottish folklore. Regarding the underlined bit, I also heard there was something about feeling compelled to run down steep hillsides, which I'm sure I felt once while out dog-walking on the moors years ago.

Im not going to discount yeti type beings.

Do these mythical creatures frequent multi story carparks or cliff edges, infact do they frequent any high place ?

I ask because it is quite common to have a feeling of wanting to jump from high places, even when you know it will result in death or injury.
When on a steep hill the urge to run down it is very great, even though you realise that you could hurt yaself.

I would'nt put that down to any mythical beings power...i put it down to the mind alone.

Haggis is a sausage-type of meat product,... typically made from sheep liver, heart and lungs that are simmered in a sheep stomach until served. :D

Some people cook it in a sausage casing,..... but it can also be served without a casing, at all.

It goes well with rutabaga, onions and potatoes. :p

(It doesn't have to be Sheep,..... it can be Deer, Moose, or anything else that might tickle your fancy under a full moon). ;)

Grey Man of Macdhui... pointless since the sighting was in the borders not the cairngorms.
But, FWIW i reckon Scotland has more than it's fair share of odd or "mythical" creatures.

Slàinte mhòr agad :)

It was probably Sean Connery assaulting his wife.
