He was a bit like Icke in the way other writers and the press tried to make him out a fraud, so called experts on Tibetan buddhism who tried to make Rampa out as a fake turned out to be Nazis who travelled to Tibet to try and gain secret occult knowledge etc.
iIfound his books good reading and coverd many subjects ppl write about theses days including Icke.

Real or fake? The same question could be made of, say, Carlos Castaneda. Some days ago I heard an expression from Alejandro Jodorowsky, which is called "chamanic lies". The point is, is it really so important if all that LR wrote was literally true? I think the important thing is the awakening process. For me, LR's books were my first step in my awakening process, when I was a child, and I'll be always thankful to this writer for his work, literally true or not. It revealed to me the Christian religion contradictions, and introduced me the Tibetan Buddhism, whose principles have always been a light for me. Perhaps the most fundamental principle I learned is the notion of Attachment. We are used to attach our minds to temporal things, doesn't matter how good, bad or noble they are, that is the reason of suffering and stopping evolution, from the Buddhist point of view. Anyway, I think LR's work was honest. You can always tell the truth from symbols or just lies when you put your mind in silence. The truth is everywhere.

good point about casteneda. it's been common knowledge for a long time that don juan was a fictional character. ime, in "dreamtime" there is no such separation as fiction or "reality". truth is Truth. if something resonates for me, it is a "path with heart". if not, i don't step on it.
nice observation about attachment, btw. :)

If I can record an mp3 from the old cassete I made during the 1990s of a radio feature about Cyril Hoskins, the Devonshire plumber who reinvented himself as Lobsang Rampa (who's cat wrote one of the books), I'll post it up here asap. I think you'll all enjoy it.
His books contain such a wild amount of knowledge.
The media/masses were quick to say 'no he's not a monk he's a british guy!', obviously without having read his books (even his first) where he explains all this. Read them for yourself as if you don't you're only going to get abstracts from him that sound crazy (especially if you know nothing of the astral). All I can say is i've learnt and achieved a great deal through his wisdom.
I've collected all his books/records from various people, along with a computer (disc) version with everything on it; if anyone is interested don't hesitate to message.

Caves of the Ancients is one of my favourite books by T. Lobsang, his books are magical IMO. When reading them you sink in like you feel that you are actually there ...taking in the scenery of Tibet and everything else.
