I had my biological father turned up on my doorstep today, the bloke walked out on me and my mother when I was 2 and didnt send a bean, nothing, zilch not even a birthday card. Two years ago,20 years later he turned up at my mums house wanting to see me,I told him I didnt want to and that my step-dad is my "real dad" as he brought me up and I thank him so much for it,he is a great guy,my biological dad then tried to get in contact with me via Facebook and again i told him i didnt want to see him or his family.Point is,is that he tracked me down on 192.com and turned up on my doorstep on the way to work, again I told him in no uncertain terms that I didnt want to know.I checked out this 192.com and was GUTTED to find my name, age,my partners name and my ex-partners name on there, how the hell can I get myself of it???? I didnt want to be on anything like that in the first place,I'm only on there because I voted as I presume this info is done by the electoral rolls,I apologise if I have posted in the wrong thread but I'm absoloutely furious this has happened due to my own information being spread over the net for easy access to any Tom,dick or Harry, thankyou for your time.

Hi Stinger :)
I've been in a similar situation before, but in an offline world. Well it was my fault since I didn't read the fine print! :D
I hope You've read their Privacy & Policy (http://www.192.com/misc/privacy-policy/) before registering? (nasty stuff!)
You can allways request account removal from their database ;)
Oh, and Welcome to the Forums! http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/8543/bouncebymiksmote.gif

Go to 192.com and click on the Help menu in the top right hand corner. On the page that comes up there's a section on how to remove your electoral roll information from the site. There's a form you have to download, fill in and post or fax back to them.

You might want to check these people out too: http://www.findermonkey.co.uk
I can't find a way of unregistering from this one, but there's a phone number. I'm going to call them in the morning.

It turns out there are 2 electoral rolls.
The full roll contains the details of all voters. Technically it is available for anyone to see but only under supervision. The edited roll is what the councils sell on to people like 192.com. It's called 'edited' because you can opt out of it. I've just emailed my local council and my details and those of my wife have been removed. Piece of cake, but they don't exactly advertise the fact that you can do it.
If you go here - http://www.aboutmyvote.co.uk/faq.aspx and enter your postcode you can get the email of the person you need to contact to get your name off the edited roll.
I've been on 192.com stalk erm trying to find people, and I don't know if it has changed but when I did it you had to pay for the electoral role stuff, also due to Mobile phones, many people don't use a landline anymore. I did a search for myself and couldn't find myself (nothing new there then)
