Blender is the free open source 3D content creation suite, available for all major operating systems under the GNU General Public License.

I keep going back to the little gem of a free program,It has lots of uses,short animations,still pictures or a series of pics for gifs ,logos, spinning texts,video titles and effects and much more!!
Please take your time and watch a few tutorials and help guides, the interface can be off putting.
The secret is to set up the screen to best suit what you are doing and learn the hotkeys so you can quickly get things done.

its a lot of fun, and gives excellent renders.
I does take a while to get the hang of, theres loads of hidden menus and stuff.
so i would take your time a start with a simple rotating square, then build up your scene with more detail and lights and stuff.

remembering the hotkeys is what you have to master

when a object is selected,(in purple)

R = rotate
S = size
G = grab so you can move
I = inserts a key frame (saves position,size,rotation....)
arrow keys = changes the frames
space = add object,light......

remember to change your end frame to match your last frame in your animation before pressing "anim" button ...its 250 be default (sta:1 end:250)

have fun!!!
