Do you know why the U.S. government wants an American Union? The answer is easy. Follow the oil. Mexico and Canada have oil. When oil production starts to decline, oil exporting countries will protect their own oil consumption which means that their oil export will suffer. The U.S. is importing huge amounts of oil. If Mexico and Canada stop their export, then that means big trouble for the U.S. With an American Union, Mexico and Canada would not be able to hold the oil to themselves.
